Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Patient Care Specialist to join our team at the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care
    • Deliver high-quality patient care, adhering to established policies and procedures.
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
    • Initiate, monitor, and discontinue dialysis treatments as per established protocols.
    • Recognize and respond to patient needs, providing timely and effective interventions.
  • Maintenance and Technical
    • Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, staff, and equipment.
    • Perform hemodialysis access care, adhering to established procedures.
    • Assist in maintaining equipment, sanitation, and maintenance of dialysis machines.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Clerical and Administrative
    • Accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and outcomes.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans.
    • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
    • Assist in orienting and training new staff members.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the healthcare team.
    • Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance patient care skills.
    Requirements
    • Education and Experience
      • High school diploma or equivalent required.
      • 2 years of dialysis training and experience preferred.
    • Certifications and Licenses
      • Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) approved state and national certification required.
      • CPR certification required.
    • Skills and Abilities
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
      • Dependability and reliability essential.
    Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to lift, push, and move patients and equipment. The employee must be able to pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test.
