Position: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) | Footprints to Recovery- Elgin, IL| Full-Time

 

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) staff is under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing while providing adult supervision to those seeking drug and alcohol treatment; assists in the maintenance of a safe, secure environment that enhances treatment. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) operates in a transitional, residential environment.


Job Duties: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

  • When on duty, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for medication passes and assessments
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is the Health and Safety Lead 2 during any crisis situation
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for the communication to the Healthcare Team for healthcare-related questions and concerns from clients and staff alike
  • Emergency Medical Technician Provides care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment
  • The Emergency Medical Technician monitors and logs all rounds with clients 
  • The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) assists clients with activities of daily living; attends to client behavioral issues and provides assistance in crisis intervention, as needed
  • The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) works with a multidisciplinary team in leading milieu activities such as current events groups, community meetings, life skills, and/or recreational activities, as appropriate to the specified population
  • Charts client observations, following policy and procedures requirements/mandates
  • The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) participates in the development and implementation of treatment programs
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and all records
  • The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) transports clients to and from community appointments, clinics, labs, and/or treatments, as and when appropriate
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards
  • Document and utilize Electronic Medical Records
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings, group sessions, and in-service education
  • If the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) meets the requirements to engage/provide counseling services and duties, the treatment technician will complete the required Intake Paperwork with the client
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • A Criminal Background Clearance
  • A Health Screening with TB test results
  • Drivers license and clean driving record
  • High School Diploma or equivalency test is preferred
  • Must be detail oriented with good oral and written communication skills
  • 1-year experience working in residential treatment with knowledge of co-occurring disorders preferred
  • At least 18 years of age


Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current CPR certification
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Current valid EMT license in IL 


Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Employees are required to talk or hear while on duty and are frequently required to stand and walk. Often, the employee is required to sit and use a computer and/or reach with hands and arms.
