The Biologics Coordinator is one that coordinates all aspects that involve biologics medications. This includes but is not limited to keeping inventory of all samples and keeping track of medications for each specific patient. The Biologics Coordinator works closely with all providers, specifically those that focus on patients with Dermatitis, Eczema, and Psoriasis.

Job Duties:
  • Is able to navigate the complexities with the insurance companies and the pharmacies in order to obtain prior authorizations in a timely manner. Is also able to appeal decisions when necessary.
  • Is efficient in the completion of all paperwork required to expedite the approval process for all biologics medications for the patients.
  • Works collaboratively with specialty pharmacies to ensure there is a quick and efficient turnaround time for the patients.
  • Is always up to date with the manufacturer recommendations, formulary changes, claim denials, and any other relevant information regarding biologic medications.
  • Strong knowledge of biologic medications including indications and storage restrictions.
  • Is able to provide detailed and accurate information regarding patient education.
  • Provides administrative assistance and support with any study initiatives that the practice participates in.
  • Works collaboratively with all staff to ensure that they have an adequate supply of samples.

Knowledge/Skills:
  • 3+ years of Dermatology experience, preferred.
  • Understands in depth the premise of prior authorizations and the steps needed to successfully obtain them.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology, ICD10 codes, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Skilled in using various computer programs, including but not limited to EMR, Excel, Microsoft Word, etc.
  • The ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure.
  • The ability to have clear and concise communication, using excellent grammar and punctuation in all written correspondence.
  • The ability to establish and maintain a positive relationship with all employees, providers, and management.

Environmental Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to work in an office setting and sit at a desk for an extended period.
  • Must be able to work on a computer for most of each workday.
