The physician assistant (PA) will provide comprehensive health care to patients under the guidance/supervision of a physician. The PA will oversee examining, assessing, diagnosing and treating a diverse set of patients with acute and chronic health care problems/illness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Conducts thorough patient assessments and physical examinations, gathering medical history, diagnosing illnesses and health concerns, and devising appropriate treatment plans for each patient and/or family. This includes prescribing medications, ordering lab work, x-rays, and EKGs, performing procedures, making referrals as needed, and interpreting results. Works closely with the supervising physician and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Assists the physician with emergency treatments or procedures as required.
  • Performs various therapeutic procedures such as suturing/laceration repair, foreign body removal, wound and burn care, lesion/mole removal, splinting/casting, cryotherapy, medication administration (oral and intravenous), injections, and immunizations.
  • Exercises professional judgment and effective communication skills when consulting with physicians and other healthcare team members to determine the appropriate care plan for patients.
  • Accurately documents all patient information and care provided in the electronic medical record (EMR), prioritizing accuracy, relevance, and timely charting.
  • Ensures patient safety and confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA policies, promptly reporting any violations to the physician or supervisor.
  • Provides patient education, counseling, and general teaching as outlined in the care plan, documenting the education provided and referring patients for further counseling if necessary.
  • Monitors and documents patient progress through follow-up appointments, adjusting treatment plans as required.
  • Establishes a compassionate and trusting environment for patients, free from discrimination.
  • Adheres strictly to medical care guidelines and safety standards, including infection control policies.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, multitasking abilities, and prioritization of patient care.
  • Willingness to conduct on-site visits with employers and actively engage with employees to promote health and wellness initiatives.

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid licensure/accreditation to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Graduation from an accredited physician assistant school.
  • Maintaining current DEA licensure in good standing.
  • Holding current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) care.
  • Ensuring all certifications remain active and updated, including completion of 100 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CMEs) every 2 years, and passing a recertification exam every 6 years.
  • Successfully passing a recertification exam every 10 years.
