Specific job responsibilities and goals include but are not limited to:

  • Review Health Admission Screening forms, conduct nursing assessments, and develop care plans for youth with medical conditions.
  • Complete Medical Alerts, provide episodic/emergency care, and ensure appropriate referrals for care beyond first aid.
  • Educate youth and guardians on medications, chronic/acute health conditions, wellness, and positive coping skills.
  • Oversee medication distribution, storage, and accountability, including training non-licensed staff for after-hours medication assistance.
  • Monitor medication side effects, conduct Root Cause Analysis of errors, and ensure accurate Medication Distribution Logs.
  • Develop and implement standards, educate staff and youth, and monitor compliance.
  • Provide training on health conditions, wellness, fitness, nutrition, and Infection Control.
  • Review medical incidents, assist in corrective actions, and support the Quality Improvement Process.
  • Maintain and verify youth health records, document nursing interventions, and evaluate emerging medical trends.

Requirements:

Education & Experience: This position must be filled by a Registered Nurse (RN). The RN shall have an active and clear Florida license in accordance with chapter 464, Florida Statutes. This position shall not be filled by a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).


Physical Requirements: Ability to travel regionally on a regular basis and statewide as needed; Ability to bend, lift and carry 30 pound
