Founded in 1955, Piasecki Aircraft Corporation (PiAC) is a research and development business specializing in design, fabrication and flight testing of experimental rotorcraft and unmanned air vehicles. Piasecki has developed and flown more than 25 different advanced VTOL and UAV aircraft and continues to develop cutting-edge vertical flight technologies.


SUMMARY:

The Systems Engineer at Piasecki Aircraft Corporation will lead the design, development, and verification of complex aerospace systems, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements. The Systems Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, utilizing their expertise in systems design, modeling, and analysis to drive successful project outcomes.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Apply systems engineering principles to plan, design, develop, and verify aerospace systems throughout their lifecycle.

•Perform analyses to ensure affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, and other critical factors for mission success.

•Develop and maintain comprehensive systems engineering documentation, including project plans, requirements, specifications, and test plans.

•Collaborate with project managers to define tasks, allocate resources, and manage project schedules and costs.

•Support the development of proposals, design reviews, and system test plans.

•Analyze system requirements, test data, and customer feedback to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement.

•Coordinate design development and system integration efforts, including collaboration with subcontractors.

•Conduct trade studies and analyses to evaluate alternative design concepts and optimize system performance.

•Support the development and execution of certification plans in compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., FAR Part 27).

•Utilize modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink) to analyze and optimize system performance.

•Apply expertise in orbital mechanics and trajectory analysis to design and evaluate space missions.

•Leverage proficiency in Python and C++ to develop scripts and tools for data analysis and automation.

•Contribute to the development and implementation of Jama and TaskTop applications, as well as related plugins for Jira, Jenkins, and GitLab/GitHub.

•Design, develop, and implement custom workflows, reports, and dashboards within Jama and Jira.

•Provide training and documentation to support effective utilization of systems engineering tools and processes.


KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

•Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies.

•Proficiency in modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, GMAT).

•Experience with requirements management and systems architecture design.

•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

•Effective communication and collaboration skills.

•Proficiency in Python, C++, and other relevant programming languages.

•Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and regulations.

•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

•Strong organizational and time-management skills.


EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / CLEARANCES:

•Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.

•3+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related role.

•Experience with Jama, Jira, or other systems engineering tools is a plus.

•Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) is desirable.

•Experience with software development and DO-178C is beneficial.
