Job DescriptionJob Description **2ND SHIFT - 2 PM TO 11 PM CST** POSITION WILL BE ONSITE IN OUR SAN ANTONIO, TX FACILITY.

Function: The Maintenance Supervisor, will act as an educator to train and develop current and new team members when processes or conditions change, and when discussing performance expectations with direct reports. To ensure success, maintenance supervisors should display strong problem solving and decision-making skills with a solid understanding of manufacturing equipment maintenance, repairs, rebuilds, cleaning and operation.

  • Ensure all employees follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Maintain safe working practices. This includes, but is not limited to in department managing of the following programs: PPE, lockout-tagout, confined space entry, chemical handling, working at height, etc.
  • Understand, write, and enforce manufacturing equipment maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by ensuring team is completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, and facilities, including equipment and line changeovers
  • Demonstrate creative problem solving to identify and perform equipment improvements
  • Ensure equipment is repaired properly and completely to maximize performance and life cycle
  • Participate in special projects on equipment upgrades or installations
  • Utilize the specialized technical knowledge each team member possesses to best preform departmental tasking as well as cross training individuals through team ups.
  • Practice plant safety guidelines always and enforce them as a part of culture.
  • Demonstrate root-cause problem solving to identify and perform equipment repairs and improvements
  • Work directly with management to develop and execute projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and the resolution of reoccurring problems
  • Read and interpret schematics for process and instrumentation diagrams, and bill of materials (parts lists)
  • Communicate across shifts, departments, and management regarding any challenges and opportunities on the production lines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment. (Food / beverage industry experience preferred.)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in people management / supervisory experience.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, and bend as required for the entire shift
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written to resolve issues across multiple departments and levels of the organization
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Ability to troubleshoot, attention to details
  • Experience with sanitary pipes, fittings, and valves.
  • Experience with Fluid Power - pneumatic, hydraulic, pumps, valves
  • Experience with Power Transmission – gear, Sprockets, Chains, Pullies
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic
  • Proficient skills with precision measuring equipment, such as multi meter, calipers, flow, temp, and other analog process devices
  • Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within the Maintenance department
  • Experience with the following technologies:
      • Variable frequency drive (VFD), sensors: photo eyes, level, pressure, flow
      • Beverage processing equipment: brewing, extraction, admix, filling: rotary fillers, bag filling, Form fill seal
      • Manufacturing lines and change overs: bottling, bags, pails, totes
      • HVAC including boilers, chillers, and air compressors

Preferred Experience

  • 4 years of experience in one of the following beverage manufacturing fields: brewing, extracting, bottling, packaging, or beverage processing
  • 4 years of experience with automated equipment, (siemens platform).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives

Measure of Performance

  • Onboard Maintenance Department Staff
  • Planning, leading, and execute preventative maintenance efforts to minimize equipment downtime. This includes developing the equipment specific planned maintenance preformed.
  • Visibility of employees solving problems, performing, and implementing repairs/adjustments, etc. as needed, with Supervisor providing positive support and encouragement in the process.
  • Coach and mentor operators, technicians and production supervisors on basic maintenance and technical procedures related to food and beverage manufacturing
  • Strong sense of accountability

Accountability

  • Responsible for consistently maintaining safe quality food products by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring visitors, contractors and customers are documented on each visit in and out of the facility to maintain good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense/food security and HACCP controls.
  • Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.
  • Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills, and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
  • Ensuring all safety work practices are adhered to.
  • Exhibit an understanding of quality standards and the ability to speak to Finlays quality systems.
