We are building a team of diverse, experienced leaders to build up Marshall CoLab and lead the IGNITE Network. Led by Marshall CoLab, the IGNITE Network will be is a coalition of 50 schools across five states committed to making dramatic gains in the experiences, environments and outcomes of our most vulnerable students, specifically Black and Latino students with disabilities experiencing poverty. Building on the success of Marshall’s Networked Improvement Community for Students with Disabilities (NIC), and working in partnership with Tennessee Score and the New Jersey Children’s Foundation, the IGNITE Network will implement and refine the Research-to-Impact Practices that led to positive outcomes for students with disabilities. The IGNITE Network is a two-year initiative funded by the Gates Foundation and Bloomberg Philanthropies.

The Director of Continuous Improvement will spearhead the design, hub, data management, and execution of each Networked Improvement Community, serving as the leading expert in these critical areas.

About the Role:

The Director of Continuous Improvement is the data technical expert guiding our continuous improvement efforts, supporting school organizations’ data use, collection, and visualization; improvement science capacity; and rapid testing towards medium and long-term outcomes. The Director of Continuous Improvement must be an established expert in improvement analytics and improvement science. This person must be highly collaborative, as they will support a wide range of stakeholders and improvement coaches in their leadership of a set of Networked Improvement Communities. Working with the Marshall team, the Director of Continuous Improvement will lead the design of improvement strategy and infrastructure for change efforts, build capability across partner organizations with training and tool creation, and coach frontline improvement teams on their data collection and decision making for improvement.

Additionally, the Director of Continuous Improvement leads the on-going work of codifying improvement tools and Research to Impact Practices to make them as useful and accessible as possible to schools across the country. This person will lead the creation and articulation of a complex and data-rich narrative of improvement, and work closely with measurement and evaluation partners to collect progress and impact data on a set of best practices for serving students furthest from opportunity.

The Director of Continuous Improvement reports to the Executive Director of Marshall Street. This role is supported by grant funding through December 27, 2026, with the strong possibility for extension beyond this time period pending success.

What You’ll Do:

Networked Improvement Community (NIC) Design and Execution

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Improvement Programs, Director of Communications, and the Executive Director of Marshall Street to define a vision for continuous improvement.

  • Support all members of the network in staging, building, codifying, and sustaining their improvement efforts.

  • Support the recruitment of new schools into Networked Improvement Communities.

  • Lead the codification of learning for dissemination and improvement, including: network dashboards, spotlight content, annual reports, improvement tools, written grant deliverables, and a “field guide” for Marshall’s continuous improvement processes - along with refining Research to Impact practices based on our learnings.

  • Support high-quality Technical Assistance for partner schools implementing Research to Impact Practices at their school sites.

  • Troubleshoot design and implementation challenges so all partners are on the path to meet their aims.

Data Collection Processes and Decision Making

  • Design and implement a data system for continuous improvement across 50+ schools across the country, from action period PDSA instrumentation to network systems that monitor partner progress and the health of the networks.

  • Ensure data systems are in full alignment with the most rigorous data privacy standards and protocols.

  • Employ user-centered design processes to continuously improve data systems, including information architecture, visualizations (reports and dashboards), data use protocols, training, and decision making around data.

  • Regularly coach and train educators within our network who support and make decisions using data.

  • Develop, implement, and refine processes to improve and use the data systems for improvement.

  • Lead learning consolidation efforts for the networked improvement communities and NIC leadership, including Improvement Reviews and network theory revision stepbacks, inclusive of the scheduling, processes, agendas, training/preparation, facilitation.

  • Collaborate effectively with Measurement and Evaluation partners, as needed.

  • Ensure data privacy and protocols are in place.

Communications and Convenings

  • Communicate regularly with external partners to ensure alignment of support, including high-stakes funders and partners.

  • Lead communication surrounding data systems, use, visualizations, and alignment of data across a system of measures, with a wide variety of stakeholders.

  • Determine and write powerful data stories to contribute to white papers, funder reports, and our annual Impact Report for the Networked Improvement Communities.

  • Support PD at national and local convenings, as necessary, and virtual network training activities, as assigned by ED of Marshall STreet - including development and implementation of surveys for improvement and evaluation, and support the planning and execution of all convenings.

  • Collaborate regularly with the ED of Marshall Street, the Director of Improvement Programs, and the communications team to support the collective work of Marshall CoLab.

  • Serve as a thought leader through clear, precise, concise writing and presentation, showcasing Marshall’s continuous improvement approach and results.

Team Leadership

  • Actively contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.

  • Lead all professional development experiences related to continuous improvement and improvement analytics.

  • Troubleshoot design and implementation challenges with so all partner schools are on the path to meet their aims.

  • Act as a leader at Marshall, supporting the development of a strategic plan and then translating that plan into operational metrics that drive aligned action and targeted support from the team.
