Downstream Operator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (What needs to be done in order to achieve desired results)

• Ensures product is moved through the packing process in a timely manner.

• Operates sorter and packing machines.

• Ensure working area is kept in a clean and tidy condition.

• Monitor product in the dry room, remove the dry product out of the drying room and stage the tumbler.

• Performs in process AQL.

• Inspects finished products to detect deviations from manufacturing standards.

• Responsible for reporting all non-conforming products to Production Supervisor.

• Provide a professional and team-oriented work environment.

• Package sorted product in boxes.

• Responsible for cleaning of tumblers, trays and totes.

• Build boxes when needed to package product.

• Performs all duties related to the process of printing of soft gel capsules under a GMP environment

• Ability to work unsupervised.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION (Describe this job assuming it is for someone who has never done it)

• Receives product into sorting area.

• Verifies batch documentation for product received and quantity.

• Moves tumblers to sorter machine area and transfers product into unit.

• Sets machine settings and ensures unit is operating correctly.

• Weighs samples using scales and measures samples using digital calipers.

• Reports any problems to Production Supervisor.

• Moves sorted product to boxes or totes.

• Responsible for completing all batch paperwork, ensuring no open fields and all cross outs have been

correctly initialed and dated.

• Responsible for turning in completed paperwork to the repository.

• Responsible for entering required information into all applicable logbooks.

• Ensures work area is clean and neat.

• Moves pallets of product with hand jack as needed.

• Visually examines surface of products for uniformity of color, extraneous material, shape, leakers and other

defects according to procedures.

• Checks product against batch record to verify conformity of product name, and labeling.

• Selects samples of capsules for testing, according to prescribed procedures.

• Packs printed product in bulk boxes.

• Labels boxes according to specifications.

• Performs inspection of non-conforming goods.

• Responsible for reporting any unusual occurrences with the tumblers and/or the product to Management.

• Responsible for the dry weights and making sure the capsules meet dry specifications and document on the

batch record.

• Responsible for cleaning the tumblers and unloading area.

• Responsible for cleaning the tumblers wash box.

• Ensure correct labeling of all completed tumblers that leave production and enter the sorting area.

• Ensure that tumblers labeled as clean are cleaned and free of foreign capsules before using. Any tumblers

that are labeled clean and are found to be dirty should be returned to the washroom with a dirty label

attached.

• Preparing all batches of soft gel capsules that require printing, ensuring that the surface of the capsules is

clean and oil free before the printing process starts.

• Setting up the printing machine according to specifications in the batch record.

• Performing in Process Control inspections to ensure good quality through the printing process.

• Troubleshooting the printing machine and resuming printing.

• Ensure correct labeling of all completed totes entering the print staging area. Cleaning the printing machine

prior and after the printing process.

• Keeping an updated inventory of printing tools such as links, printing wheels, etc.

• Responsible to follow all SOPs and cGMP procedures set out by KD Nutra.

• Learn/cross train in other functions of the Downstream process as needed and indicated by your Supervisor.

• All Downstream Operators must have understanding, and knowledge needed about safety SOP’s and the

requirements for the position to ensure a safer working environment. All precautions and processes must be

adhered to in order to maintain a high level of safety compliance.
