We are looking for an ambitious Accounting Clerk who is passionate about playing a critical role in the maintenance and growth of our organization. The Accounting Clerk will manage all accounting tasks, communicate with customers, work closely with project managers, and offer support to field personnel as needed.

This position is in Phoenix, AZ and will be an in-office position with the ability to work a hybrid schedule as defined by Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Accounts Payable process including entering invoices into accounting software, running reports, issuing checks for payment, scheduling online payments, and coordinating lien waiver collection.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable process including entering pay applications and invoices into accounting software, collections on past-due accounts, and lien waiver coordination.
  • Obtain and manage pre-liens, lien releases, and certificates of insurance.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports. Manage Cash Flow; calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
  • Manage monthly account reconciliations. Assist with month-end general ledger closing processes, variance analysis and journal entries.
  • Assist with payroll processing and related tasks.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records, both electronic and hard copy.
  • Manage accounting software including but not limited to, creation and maintenance of vendors, processing of daily deposits and payables, system maintenance and issue resolution in cooperation with IT staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support during audits and financial reviews.
  • Assist in ad-hoc financial projects and tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience working as an Accounting Clerk or similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Sage accounting software is required.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Sense of urgency, attention to detail and desire to learn are critical to this position
