SAFETY DIRECTOR

HEAVY CIVIL CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE (UNDERGROUND UTILITIES preferred)


YOU:

  • Represent FCCI as the face and representative for the Safety function. "Lead by example", can-do, positive attitude. Safety Champion.
  • Must be comfortable being both hands-on (tactical) and developing Safety strategy (safety, health, engagement, metrics, recruitment, budgeting, training, etc.) to move the Safety department to the next level -both in-house and in the larger community.
  • Previous supervisory/leadership/recruiting experience.
  • First point of contact for job site accident/incident reporting. Able to project insurance losses for Worker's Comp, General Liability, and Auto claims.
  • Previous experience developing/monitoring the budget for the Safety Department. (Effectively and Efficiently utilizes Excel).
  • Articulate in speaking and writing as you will be responsible for all Safety policies, procedures (SOP manual), training, and New Hire Safety Orientation. (Effectively and Efficiently utilizes PowerPoint.)
  • Provide consultation to ensure compliance with all state, federal and local regulations and owner/contractual requirements in negotiating regulatory citations. Communicate throughout company all applicable regulatory changes and best practices. Document accordingly.
  • Collaborate with HR Director to establish annual Safety/HR training event for all employees. Participate in building Flippo Training and Certification program.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma required. Bachelor's degree (preferred), but relevant experience is most important.
  • Five plus years of experience in a Safety leadership role within a heavy civil construction company is required. Focus on Underground Utilities is strongly
  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 are required. OSHA 510 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (online course) must be obtained with 120 days from hire date. We would like someone who has or interested in obtaining OSHA 500 (Instructor for OSHA 10 and 30 courses). A CHST (Construction Health & Safety Tech) or CSST (Construction Site Safety Tech) would be helpful.
  • CPR/First Aid is preferred. Must obtain within 120 days of date of hire.
  • Bilingual is strongly preferred. Otherwise, patience with our team members is non-negotiable.
  • Must have a "Safety First" and "Lead by Example" mentality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (at this level, grammar/spelling do count).
  • Must take pride in your Organization and Time Management skill sets.
  • Computer savvy (Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PP: You don't have to be an expert, but you do need to use them effectively and efficiently). Experience with Heavy Bid, Procore, Blue Beam and Primera is helpful, but experience with similar programs is transferable.
  • Self-starter, accountability, and positive can-do attitude is necessary for fit.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to meet company's driving record requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and regularly sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. Must be able to walk with uneven terrain on job sites for long periods. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
