Receiving & Shipping Specialist

Job Location: Ontario, CA

Job Summary:

The Receiving & Shipping Specialist is responsible for managing the receipt, inspection, storage, and shipment of aerospace components and materials. This role ensures that all incoming and outgoing shipments meet quality standards, comply with regulatory requirements, and are handled efficiently to support production schedules and customer demands.

  • Receiving:
    • Receive and inspect incoming shipments of raw materials, components, and supplies.
    • Verify that the items received match the purchase orders and supplier documentation.
    • Document any discrepancies or damages and coordinate with suppliers to resolve issues.
    • Ensure proper labeling and storage of materials in designated areas.
    • Maintain accurate records of received items and update inventory management systems.
  • Shipping:
    • Prepare and package components, parts, and products for shipment according to customer specifications and industry standards.
    • Create and verify shipping documentation, including packing lists, bills of lading, and export documentation.
    • Coordinate with freight carriers and arrange for the timely dispatch of shipments.
    • Track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery to customers.
    • Communicate with customers regarding shipment status and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement to reorder supplies as needed.
    • Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in annual physical inventories.
    • Ensure that inventory records are accurate and up to date.
  • Quality Control:
    • Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards.
    • Work closely with the Quality Assurance department to address any non-conformances.
    • Ensure that all shipping and receiving processes adhere to ISO 9001/AS9100 standards.
  • Compliance:
    • Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including ITAR and EAR for international shipments.
    • Ensure proper handling and documentation of hazardous materials (HAZMAT).
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline shipping and receiving processes and improve efficiency.
    • Participate in Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to enhance operational performance.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • 3+ years of experience in shipping and receiving, preferably in the aerospace manufacturing industry.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures, including international shipping and export compliance.
    • Proficiency with inventory management systems and P21 software.
    • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Certifications:
    • Forklift certification is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, and walking for extended periods.
  • May require occasional overtime to meet deadlines.
  • Exposure to a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
