Description


Williams Consulting, LLC is seeking an experienced Technical Communication Writer/Editor to provide technical writing/editing support of a mission critical Federal program.   The Technical Communication Writer/Editor will support communication activities, provide Section 508 document remediation support, as necessary and implement accessibility standards and best practices across our Federal projects.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Takes a leading role in preparing assigned documents, including, but not limited to, confirming the scope of the task, confirming templates and specifications, negotiating and adhering to timelines, organizing document reviews, and communicating directly with the customer
  • Prepares press releases and organizational-wide communication.
  • Manages day-to-day workload, including identifying project needs, tracking timelines, implementing customer requests, and keeping Project leadership abreast of progress on tasks and any potential problems with project work.
  • Designs and develop policies, procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and communication plans as required.
  • Develops talking points, messaging materials, announcements, and other materials
  • Provides notetaking support for weekly and monthly virtual and in-person meetings to include a monthly public facing meeting; Accurately capture key summary points in a succinct manner, along with meeting members’ specific comments for inclusion in various written deliverables
  • Prepares meeting summaries and recommendation reports
  • Prepares assigned documents in accordance with customer requirements (e.g., , plain language, and comply with the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services in Health and Health Care
  • Provides professional editing, proofreading, and formatting for all written products to include (e.g., written reports, white papers, slide presentations, standard operating procedures, etc.)
  • Quickly and accurately, pinpoint areas of non-compliance in documents/forms and web content
  • Supports the development, review, and editing of new or existing documentation or artifacts for final delivery, publication, or dissemination
  • Writes and establishes Section 508 compliance policies and processes for the organization on how to incorporate Section 508 into the workflow of projects
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications and Experience


  • Degree in journalism, English, public relations, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in scientific technical writing, editing, or quality assurance auditing of draft technical reports
  • Experience developing and present oral and written documentation related to process improvement projects, requirements analyses or organizational studies,
  • Experience writing in plain language and in compliance with the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services in Health and Health Care
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with a Federal government agency is preferred 
  • Experience in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, 29 U.S.C. 794d in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Adobe product software and WCAG Accessibility assessments, remediation, and testing
  • Knowledge of tools used for secondary compliance testing
  • Experience in working for/or engaging with the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
  • Strong computer and word processing skills, in addition to writing, editing, proofreading, and page composition skills
  • Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
  • Outstanding attention to detail, accuracy, prioritization, and quality of work
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to prioritize and work on a variety of projects with a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business
  • Background investigation required
