ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Mechanical Manager will be responsible for leading initiatives to grow mechanical business across 14 locations in three states. You will create training programs and structures for mechanics. You will standardize best practices to promote efficiency and safety. You will develop best-in-industry billing practices. You will develop and foster partner-vendor relationships. You will work with managers and HR to improve recruiting, retention and career pathing. You will work with 36+ outside sales representatives to grow business. You will create initiatives with the internal Marketing department to support all company goals. You will also need to be able to direct and optimize the efficiency of the department while understanding the needs of all East Bay Tire locations. High attention to details, organizational skills, and strong communication skills are required for this role. First class customer service is a must to success in this role.


DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Strategically plan and manage mechanical business at all locations
  • Direct, optimize and coordinate mechanic training programs
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers
  • Grow business through partnerships with location managers and outside sales representatives
  • Develop and monitor billing practices
  • Resolve any arising problems or complaints
  • Supervise, coach and train mechanics
  • Meet cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness targets
  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
  • Comply with laws, regulations, and ISO requirements
  • Organize, store and monitor the distribution of parts
  • Assist in conducting / reconciling inventories as required
  • Manage, maintain all building compliance
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, hiring, and review process for all East Bay Tire mechanics
  • Adherence to company and safety policies and procedures

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have at least 5 years' experience working as a mechanical manager
  • Experience working for a large company managing mechanics in multiple locations
  • Must have a strong commitment to achieving goals with a teamwork mentality
  • Must have great communication/interpersonal skills with employees, all levels of management, and customers
  • Must be able to meet deadlines as needed and ensure accuracy of all work that the location produces (internally and externally)
  • Must be motivated with a good business sense and understanding
  • Must have good decision making/judgment skills
  • Must be extremely organized, detail orientated
  • Must be a team player, with the initiative and ability to do what it takes to get the job done
  • Computer skills with a variety of programs including Excel, Outlook, and various other computer systems
  • Proficient with implantation and use of standard logistics software
  • Strong mathematical and deductive reasoning skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Forklift experience required (operators certificate a plus)
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds as required for the job
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and work independently on tight deadlines with multiple priorities

  • This position will work out of our Corporate Fairfield location

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to:

  • Work in an environment where there can be medium to loud noise
  • Routinely use computer equipment including monitors, keyboards, etc.
  • Frequently sit and stand to perform work, visit offices, attend meetings, and put supplies away, pack boxes or put materials together
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds
  • Work flexible/varying schedule to support the team, customers, and deadlines
