Our law firm client is looking for an Assistant Managing Clerk. The position is non-exempt, salary $95,000, shift 11am-7pm shift or other alternative hours 12am-8pm, plus OT when needed.

Assistant Managing Clerk Job Description

The Assistant Managing Clerk, under the supervision of the Managing Clerk, will provide docketing, calendaring, and e-filing assistance for all Firm cases in state and federal courts nationwide.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Research and respond to procedural questions from attorneys and paralegals relating to federal, state, and local court rules and procedures.
  • Review, docket, and calendar court and discovery papers utilizing the CourtAlert case management system.
  • Review documents prior to service or filing for compliance with applicable court rules.
  • Serve and e-file court papers in all state and federal courts.
  • Liaison with court personnel, process servers, and outside vendors.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal court rules and procedures, including but not limited to the New York CPLR and FRCP.
  • Significant experience with electronic filing in state and federal e-filing programs, including NYSCEF and e-filing systems of other states’ courts, and ECF/ACMS systems of various federal courts.
  • Experience performing docketing and calendaring functions utilizing a rules-based docketing program, such as CourtAlert or eDockets/Milana.
  • Excellent communication, customer-service and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with a professional and courteous manner.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all the Firm’s and client’s documentation and information.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary.

Education and Experience:

  • 4+ years’ experience working in a Managing Clerk’s or Managing Attorney’s Office.
  • BA highly valued but not a requirement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
