Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  1. Automation Solutions:
  • Deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards either self-directed or as a team leader. Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery.
  • Example: Develop and implement control systems for manufacturing lines in the semiconductor industry.
System Architecture:
  • Develop control system architecture, select components, detail schematic diagrams, and system documentation.
  • Example: Design a comprehensive control system for a water treatment facility, including all necessary schematics and documentation.
Programming:
  • Program controllers (PLC, DCS/Delta V) and process visualization (HMI/SCADA). Develop databases for historical system data and implement/commission control systems at client facilities.
  • Example: Program and commission a SCADA system for a food and beverage processing plant.
Networking:
  • Design, detail, and implement industrial networking systems (fiber, wired, and wireless) using protocols like Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus.
  • Example: Implement a robust industrial networking solution for a large-scale manufacturing facility.
Project Management:
  • Develop project execution plans, budgets, schedules, and task prioritization. Oversee daily operations and activities of projects up to $10M, ensuring profitability and managing conflict resolution.
  • Example: Lead a $5M automation project, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
Technical Leadership:
  • Act as a technical lead on projects, guide lower-level engineers and technicians, and potentially manage smaller projects.
  • Example: Mentor junior engineers in developing and troubleshooting PLC programs.
Customer Interaction:
  • Interact directly with customers to identify requirements, develop specifications, and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Example: Work closely with clients in the life sciences industry to customize automation solutions that meet their specific needs.


Requirements
  1. Education:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
  • 10+ years in control engineering with expertise in Emerson DeltaV, PLC-5 to ControlLogix conversions, and PLC hardware/software platforms (Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Modicon).
  • In-depth understanding of HMI/SCADA platforms (Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk, Aveva System Platform, Inductive Automation Ignition, GE iFIX, Siemens WinCC).
  • Project management experience with PMP certification preferred.
  • Experience in industries like Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Water Treatment, and general manufacturing.
  • Design of electrical schematics and control panels, including power distribution under 480VAC.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, people skills, and business efficiency aptitude.
  • Knowledge of Batch/Recipes, OEE, MES, and ERP systems.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers/technicians.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
References:
  • Professional references, including one from a subordinate, a peer, and a manager.
Travel:
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, mostly local to Dallas.
