Anchorage Radiation Oncology Center is looking for a service oriented, friendly, and compassionate registered nurse to join an amazing, close-knit team. You will have time to build relationships with all members of the staff and help them deliver the highest quality care for our patients.

Responsibilities

Perform various medical, clerical, electronic, and customer service duties including the management, maintenance, and flow of patient information (medical records and test reports); cross coverage for the Front Office Coordinator; telephone support to physicians and clinical personnel; assists patients and visitors; and performs a variety of other support activities. Interacts daily with physicians, therapists, front office staff, patients, and their significant others.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing assessments on all new patient consultations.
  • Measure and record vital signs.
  • Record patient interview, history, and chief complaint.
  • Provide patient education with regards to office policies, medications, management of side effects, treatments, and special diets.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.
  • Change dressings, applying bandages, and other wound care procedures as directed.
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, stocking, and sterilizing instruments.
  • Occasional placement of Foley catheter for radiotherapy planning.
  • Dispose of biohazard waste according to clinic Policy and Procedures.
  • Perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation always.
  • Support the emotional well-being of patients.
  • Provides information on resources for the patient and family members.
  • In this small office environment, additional tasks and duties other than as described may fall upon all team members.
  • Provide Nursing direction and support on clinical topics involving centers as needed.
  • Support the development of reasonable education programs to facilitate Nursing staff professional development.
  • Be part of a group to review patient care issues and collaborate with clinical leaders to monitor quality outcomes.

Education/Experience

  • Graduate of accredited degree nursing school


License or Certification

  • Registered Nurse License
  • Oncology Nursing Society, Radiation Oncology Certificate preferred


Working Conditions

  • This position is in a fast paced and multi-task medical office environment and occasionally interacts with ill and/or distressed patients and their families.
