Job Summary

Anchorage Radiation Therapy is seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our cancer treatment program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patients, ensuring a safe and clean environment for treatment.
  • Identify patients using four identifiers prior to any procedure or treatment, maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.
  • Review and interpret patient charts throughout the course of radiation treatment, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Verify radiation prescriptions and treatment plans, ensuring compliance with established practices and standards.
  • Set up immobilization devices and position patients according to treatment plans and setup notes, ensuring accurate and safe treatment delivery.
  • Monitor patients throughout treatment, taking appropriate actions as needed to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Record treatment data in patient charts or verification systems, maintaining accurate and timely documentation.
  • Perform procedures in an orderly and confident manner, working collaboratively with other therapists as needed.
  • Attend departmental meetings and participate in inter-disciplinary discussions to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiation Therapy, with a strong foundation in radiation oncology principles and practices.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy, with ongoing education and professional development.
  • Current BLS certification, with ongoing training and education in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency response.
  • Experience in radiation therapy, with a minimum of one year of clinical experience in a radiation oncology setting.
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to odorous chemicals and specimens, with proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocols in place.
  • Occasional travel between centers and within the city, with flexible scheduling and transportation arrangements.
  • Frequent contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances, with empathy and compassion in patient interactions.
  • May be exposed to radiation and strong magnetic fields, with proper safety protocols and PPE in place.
  • May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease, with proper infection control and safety protocols in place.
