POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Technical Specialist (Patent Agent) to join our dynamic legal team. This role will be responsible for assisting in the preparation, filing, and prosecution of patent applications in the pharmaceutical field. The successful candidate will report to the Director, Patents.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist in the preparation, filing, and prosecution of patent applications.

· Conduct patentability and freedom to operate searches and provide IP counseling to R&D teams.

· Review and analyze scientific or technical documents to assist with drafting patent applications.

· Collaborate with scientists to understand new inventions and draft detailed descriptions of the inventions.

· Assist in due diligence and IP landscape analyses.


REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor’s degree in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a related field. Advanced degree and small-molecule drug discovery experience in the pharmaceutical field strongly preferred.


Experience

· 1-2+ years of experience in patent prosecution or equivalent experience in a scientific role with exposure to patent work.


QUALIFICATIONS

· Strong scientific background with the ability to understand and translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English). Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus.

· Proficient in using MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as CAS SciFinder.

· Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically.


Licenses or Certifications

Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is a plus.


Travel

Willingness to accommodate for calls/meetings with colleagues in other time zones as needed and occasional international travel.


The target salary range for this full-time role is $123,000 to $147,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Structure Therapeutics determines salary ranges based on level and scope of responsibilities, as well as location. Individual pay is further determined by additional factors, including relevant experience, specific job skills, education and training.
