Ministry Function: The Child Care Provider is to work with and under the Children’s Ministry Coordinator with the goal of implementing the curriculum and standards for Children’s Christian Education as designed by the coordinator. As a leader in the Children’s Ministry, assist in team building, volunteer recruitment and training, and follow-up to insure a consistent teaching and working team for the Children’s Ministry (ages 8 weeks -12 years old).
Responsibilities:
- Function as the primary assistant to the CMC for establishing an atmosphere of team.
- Answer curriculum and teaching questions and ensure ongoing engagement as a team member.
- Teach the prescribed curriculum as planned in daily schedule (i.e. Think Orange)
- As directed by the CMC, assist with correspondence follow up, reminder calls, and volunteer applications / recruitment.
- Maintain accurate inventory of snacks and supplies. Track need to replenish items and order inventory as directed by the CMC.
- Assist the CMC in developing and coordinating special events.
- Assist the CMC in facilitating weekly Children’s Ministry classes and activities.
- Assist the CMC in facilitating and coordinating childcare for scheduled events.
- Check in children of employees as they arrive, beginning at 9:00 am
- Escort children to rest room according to polices and procedure.
- Assist with childcare during Friday and Saturday events requiring childcare.
- Engage children in creative recreation activity and regular nap time in daily schedule.
- Promote child safety at all times, including checking and parent pick up.
- All other reasonable duties as assigned, but not listed above.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Strong biblical foundation for wise management in a church setting. Must be strong as an administrator. Able to establish and maintain appropriate standards for the accomplishment of ministry in a way that honors both God and people.
- Professional and mature inter-personal skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate persuasively and compassionately both orally and in writing.
- Must have a servant’s attitude.
- Timeliness is a very important value at New Community. Must meet request for information or action in a timely, tactful, and courteous manner.
- Effective communication is a very important value at New Community. Must provide clear, regular and thorough communications to all whom you work.
- Must be a team player, promoting unity for the overall direction of the team and the Ministry.
- Ability to be extremely flexible in an environment that is subject to many spur of the moment changes.
- Initiative, perseverance, follow-through and “whatever it takes” attitudes are very important.
- Must have a strong commitment to handling conflict according to the precepts of Scripture.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Breach of confidentiality (whether personal or company related) is grounds for immediate dismissal.
- Must exhibit personal discretion concerning information shared or observed in the normal flow of church interactions, whether leaders, staff or members.
- As with all assignments at New Community, the Children’s Ministry Assistant position serves in the best interest of New Community Bible Fellowship. The person must have an open, submitted and understanding spirit, should the Sr. Pastor, eldership or CMC determine a need for change or reassignment.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- New Community Bible Fellowship membership.
- Must exhibit a strong commitment to personal spiritual growth.
- Must be willing to spend time in Bible Study at NCBF.
- Fully embraces the vision, mission, and values of New Community Bible Fellowship.
- Bachelors Degree preferred. Minimum education is a High School diploma.
- Proficient in Microsoft software where applicable to ministry duties.
- Excellent organizational, administrative and team development skills.
- Must possess affective team building and team development skills.
- Must exhibit a continuous effort to develop and improve skills and knowledge.
- Must live a personal and private life exemplary of a mature Christian.

- Must have a heart for salvation and discipleship of youth.
- Must be available to attend Children’s Ministry trainings/meetings.
- The ideal candidate should be creative, bring high energy, hard working, and have the ability to motivate others.
- Should be detail oriented and decisive with the ability to organize and coordinate work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
