Job Title: Director of Early Childhood Programs

Reports to: CEO

Position Summary:

The Director of Early Childhood Programs is responsible for overseeing all strategic planning and instructional programming for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. This is a unique position designed for an early childhood specialist determined to direct the finest Early Childhood programming in the Hudson Valley.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit, Develop, Retain, Evaluate and Lead a diverse and passionate group of up to 25 Early Childhood teachers with various levels of experience, ability and interests.

  • Design, develop, and implement safe and effective approaches to instruction across multiple locations.

  • Collaborate with the CEO, Director of Early Childhood Operations, and the Director of Facilities to maintain and improve facilities across multiple locations.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Early Childhood Operations and Head Teachers to schedule individual and group training for up to 29 staff members across multiple locations.

  • Work with parents, guardians and other stakeholders to monitor and track student progress and growth.

  • Assist in developing, and supervising daily activities to ensure they are developmentally appropriate for each age group.

  • Advise parents and guardians of students with special needs towards additional screening and services.

  • Attend professional development seminars to maintain an understanding of the current best practices of curriculum and administrative functions of early childhood programs.

  • Ensure all requirements from the NYS OCFS, NAEYC, and Quality StarsNY regulations and procedures are being followed along with appropriate forms of discipline if applicable.

  • Prepare our children for life beyond Pre-Kindergarten, filled with a passion for learning.

Minimum Requirements:

The Early Childhood Program Director must hold either:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, including or in addition to 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field; one year of full-time teaching experience in a childcare center, family daycare environment, or other early childhood program

  • A New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; one year of full-time teaching experience in a childcare center, family daycare or other early childhood program; plus one year of experience supervising staff in a childcare program or a related field of work

  • An Associate’s degree in Early Childhood or related field, with a plan of study leading to a Bachelor’s degree or a New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; two years of full-time teaching experience in a childcare center, family day care or other early childhood program; and two years of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work.

  • A Child Development Associate Credential or other Office-recognized credential, with a plan of study leading to a Bachelor’s degree or a New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; two years of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family daycare or other early childhood program; and two years of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work.

The Director of Early Childhood Programs is a passionate champion of teachers, students, and parents. This highly organized and energetic individual should be prepared to engage and empower large and small audiences with information regarding the growth and evolution of the Magic Circle School and the YWCA of Ulster County.
