Position Purpose:

The Women’s Coordinator provides oversight and direct service to women and children residing in the Drug Medi-Cal Residential Treatment Program for Women and Children in South Los Angeles (Level 3.1 and 3.5). The Coordinator upholds the JWCH mission to improve the health status and well-being of underserved segments of the population of Los Angeles County. This position is funded through three contracts, including the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC), Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), and SAMHSA Perinatal and Parenting Women (PPW)

Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the daily activity of the Pregnant and Post-Partum Residential Treatment Program funded by SAMSHA and SAPC.
  2. Be responsible for adhering to and complying with County and Federal contract conditions.
  3. Work collaboratively with the treatment team, including the intake coordinator, nurse, chef, counselors, case managers, and therapists.
  4. Oversee and maintain family engagement services with the treatment team.
  5. Supervise PPW staff, including the Administrative Assistant, Children’s Coordinator, and Recreation Specialist.
  6. Assist with hiring and maintaining a full PPW staffing pattern.
  7. Maintain excellent relationships with representatives of hospitals, maternity wards, and other female health providers for two-way referrals.
  8. Build relations with Department of Children and Family Services Social Workers.
  9. Be responsible for overseeing admissions for mothers and their children, including preparation prior to and all the way through admission and settling into the program.
  10. Be responsible for preparing bedrooms and supplies needed for mother and child admissions and maintaining ongoing needs for mothers and their children. This includes mothers with children in the NICU upon admission.
  11. Maintain an inventory of baby and child supplies, including toys, books, playpens, car seats, diapers, clothes, and other supplies.
  12. Facilitate care coordination and parent-focused groups, documenting within 24 hours of service.
  13. Coordinate and oversee child visits approved by DCFS in collaboration with counselors.
  14. Attend SAPC PPW Providers Meetings, CSAT monthly calls, and community-based meetings to network and develop relations with other providers.
  15. Attend Sexual and Reproductive Health SAPC monthly meetings.
  16. Coordinate discharge care when a client steps down to RBH and Outpatient to ensure a smooth transition.
  17. Organize and oversee Family Events held quarterly each year.
  18. Oversee the Yoga Program contracted through CSAT grant and manage invoices.
  19. Develop childcare protocols and activities with the Children’s Coordinator.
  20. Be responsible for recruiting and overseeing the Peer Advocate Program.
  21. Oversee the compliance of administering the SAMSHA assessment at intake and follow up, the Government and Performance Results Act (GPRA).
  22. Administer the ASAM as needed with PPW clients.
  23. Oversee the management of participants' incentives (gift cards and donations) and maintain a tracking system.
  24. Oversee donations from Baby 2 Baby and develop relations with agencies for donations.
  25. Provide weekly and monthly reports on CSAT and SAPC program activities and program outcomes.
  26. Attend seminars, conferences, and training sessions related to substance abuse treatment and skills necessary for a leadership position.
  27. Document all clinical services provided in the EHR within 24 hours of service.
  28. Enforce all COVID-19 safety measures.
  29. Complete required training hours per SAPC contract each fiscal year.
  30. Comply with HIPAA and other mandates regarding client care and confidentiality.
  31. Discuss all client information only with appropriate program personnel when related to the care being provided.
  32. Maintain confidentiality for all documents containing client identifier information.
  33. Self-identify potentially unsafe systems/processes/situations and take initiative to report to the supervisor.
  34. Participate in all safety programs, which may include assignment to an emergency response team.
  35. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Three years experience working in the field of addiction treatment with women, children and their families
  2. One to two years direct supervisory experience
  3. Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor.
  4. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service field (psychology, social work, counseling) or equivalent experience
  5. Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  6. Competent working with mothers and their children
  7. Cultural competent working with minority, low income and vulnerable population
  8. Perform multiple tasks while demonstrating the ability to work within a team construct
  9. Able to work Holidays and other nontraditional work days and hours.
  10. Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Nurturing Parenting Program and Celebrating Families
  11. Knowledgeable in organizing and implementing programs
  12. Knowledge of children development, trauma, substance abuse, and mental health
  13. Excellent documentation, oral and written communication skills, and organizational skills
  14. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs)
  15. Valid California Driver’s License and proof of insurance
  16. Bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish preferred
