The On-Site Lead and Alternate On-Site Lead are the key personnel at the Range Maintenance facility.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare and provide reports to be delivered to the Government by the 10th of each month.
  • Attend weekly scheduling coordination meetings with the Government to determine range maintenance requirements and deconflict maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with the Government or Maintenance Supervisor for scheduling of facilities in the Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS).
  • Monitor Range Control Live Fire and Operations Net.
  • Notify Range Operations/Fire Desk of personnel entering or leaving a facility.
  • Mowing, brush control, erosion control on the range floor and drainage maintenance.
  • Maintain and sustain range berms on the ranges
  • Grounds maintenance to include: grading, mowing, target berm repair/reshape, berm/hull-down/trench/battle position maintenance, tree/shrubbery clearing, erosion control, severe weather repairs.
  • Mulch/mow grass until uniform in appearance, free of skips, gaps, rutting, or scalping.
  • Remove tree limbs, debris, etc. prior to mowing.
  • Maintain vegetation around buildings, berms, targets, and all structures associated with each facility.
  • Perform corrective actions as needed to surface areas, including but not limited to adding dirt and gravel to roadways and parking areas, regrading, repairing, and clearing drainage areas.
  • Maintain road shoulders, drainage systems, ramps, and erosion control areas.
  • Perform maintenance, grading, and graveling of range roads.
  • Keep drainage ditches clear of brush, sediment, and other obstructing debris.
  • Maintain, repair, or replace culverts and components of road drainage systems.
  • Conduct emergency repairs (as required) on berms

Required qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) years experience maintaining Range Training Facilities
  • Knowledge of standard landscaping procedures
  • Knowledge of road grading and drainage
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operations and maintenance
  • Valid Georgia State and Ft. Stewart licenses or certifications to operate the type of vehicles on work sites. Appropriate level CDL for operating dump trucks or other vehicles more than 26,001 pounds.
  • Must have favorable NACI or equivalent.
