Job Title: Welder/Machinist

Summary: Are you a skilled Welder/Machinist looking for a challenging and rewarding role? We are seeking a dedicated individual who can set up and operate welding equipment independently, following our department’s policy and procedures. You will be welding, fabricating, and reconditioning components and parts to meet customer, OEM, and industry standards. You’ll also interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, sketches, and perform precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping, fitting, and welding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate welding and cutting equipment.
  • Work within weld procedure guidelines to meet customer/contract specifications.
  • Perform additional work necessary to finish and fit parts to required customer specifications, including some pipe fitting/welding.
  • Plan your own work operations and methods of set-up based on weld procedures and work order requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly workstation
  • Maintain welding equipment and supplies in good condition
  • Assist in the disassembly, inspection, and re-assembly of pump equipment when required
  • Provide information for a smooth transition for coworkers during or prior to a shift change
  • Assist and train less experienced coworkers
  • Support and participate in our company-wide Quality Management effort
  • Be willing to work overtime as requested
  • Performing layouts, setting up and operating conventional machine tools as required
  • Reading and interpreting all drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Designing setup methods where none exist
  • Instructing other shop personnel on proper machining techniques
  • Continually improving methods to deliver higher quality with improved costs

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years experience in cutting, welding, and fabricating various metal and alloy components
  • Ability to learn and pass various weld certification tests
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints, apply knowledge of weld rods, weld wire, weld equipment settings, and basic math skills
  • Possess basic hand tools, basic precision measuring tools, and proper safety attire as specified by our facility requirements
  • High school diploma is required
  • Completion of a machinist apprentice program or equivalent training
  • Ability to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspections
  • Ability to setup machine tools: ID / OD Grinders, Turret Lathe, Engine Lathe, Horizontal Boring Mill, Vertical Boring Mill, Radial Drill, Planer Mill
  • Four years of experience in machine shop operations
  • Willingness to work in a team environment
  • Openness to working overtime as required
