About the Role

MATTER is looking for a dynamic leader for our venture acceleration team — someone who is passionate about the opportunity for new technologies to improve health and healthcare, and who loves to help entrepreneurs navigate the ups and downs of their world-changing journeys. As director, you will be responsible both for advising MATTER member companies, and for ensuring that they have the best possible experience as members of MATTER, including developing and optimizing the programs and services we offer.

The person in this role will:

  • Provide valuable advice and direction to MATTER member companies developing healthcare solutions.
  • Lead a diverse, high-performing Venture Acceleration team of business development, operational and account management staff.
  • Act as a business development leader, developing strategic collaborations to drive growth of MATTER’s healthcare entrepreneur community.
  • Set the strategic direction for MATTER’s Venture Acceleration function and optimize program offerings based on learnings and market feedback.
  • Promote a data-driven culture with the development of approaches to set performance targets, forecasting and ongoing program optimization goals.
  • Develop and deliver regular updates on business performance and growth strategy to the CEO and external clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s in business or entrepreneurship preferred.
  • 8+ years of work experience in healthcare entrepreneurship, healthcare innovation, healthcare consulting and/or related field.
  • Deep understanding of startups in the healthcare space, with past experience founding or leading one highly preferred.
  • Past experience developing incubator or accelerator programs would be a bonus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of growth and commercialization challenges of a startup in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience leading small teams, with demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding resource allocation decisions.
  • A strong communicator and relationship builder with the ability to excel in independent working environments.
  • Flexible, able to balance multiple priorities, and comfortable working within a fast-moving environment while driving toward solutions.
