Our Client is looking for a real “go getter” with excellent development, marketing, administrative and communications skills to serve as the Development Director. The selectee will be our chief fundraiser and will provide leadership, support, advice, and marketing expertise consistent with the mission and purpose of the organization. This person will report directly to the Scholarship Foundation CEO and President.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Development:
- Spearhead fundraising efforts for the Foundation. Exceed prior year’s fundraising accomplishments.
- Plan, organize, and execute fund raising events and fund-raising campaigns and campaign strategies. Grow the foundation by helping to secure Partners/Donors.
- Identify and strengthen relationships with community stakeholders, actively identify, pursue and manage corporate and individual leads, foster strong donor and sponsor stewardship, and continuously identify, seek, pursue and manage grant funding.
- Provide leadership, advice and input to plan, organize, and execute fund raising events, in person as well as virtual. Coordinate with graphic designer and webmaster on event marketing and publicity. Develop and execute new events to increase revenues.
- Develop and execute innovative ways to increase and manage donations.
- Expand and manage current grant writing programs and methodologies. Draft and submit grants to an increasing number of foundations, corporations and individuals.
- Develop and execute innovative ways to increase and manage donations and marketing (e.g. text donations and marketing blasts,)
- Ensure appropriate recognition and appreciation expressed to sponsors and donors on an ongoing basis.

2.Social Media

-Review, update, and maintain Foundation's social media marketing presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Craft and execute Social Media communications plan. Lead the Foundation's efforts to enhance and expand its visibility.

- Track social media analytics and effectiveness, working to improve outreach and messaging.

- Develop and track metrics to measure the effectiveness of social media marketing efforts.

- Coordinate with Social Media Director to prepare draft marketing and public awareness posts for social media and outreach campaigns. Design and produce a quarterly report or marketing newsletter for the
Foundation.


- Monitor messaging, social media and publicity for competing/similar organizations for insights, ideas, and marketing trends. Provide recommendations to Foundation’s leadership on new innovations for marketing planning and execution.

3. Marketing

- Draft a comprehensive marketing and development plan for leadership review and board approval. Initiate execution of approved plan components as a part of overall marketing efforts to expand philanthropic support of the organization.

- Research and identify surgical targets for fundraising and marketing approaches.

- Monitor local and relevant national event and planning calendars and provide marketing updates for Foundation as appropriate.

- Develop strong relationships within the community and nationwide to foster a positive image such that companies, foundations, and individuals make the Foundation a charity of choice for funding.

- Oversee branding, image and consistency of messaging in all organizational materials.

- Secure and coordinate media events and positive publicity. Speak on behalf of the Foundation with media and other groups.

- Attend and conduct regular networking at ongoing community and leadership events.
- Coordinate with Foundation webmaster on enhancing the value and content displayed on the Foundation website.
- Develop and foster partnerships with organizations to grow awareness and revenues.
4. Essential Skills

- Problem-solving expertise, with a potential to successfully build collaboration and effective teams.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as public speaking skills.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of applications (MS Office applications, and CRMs. [Donor Perfect, and QuickBooks a plus]).
- Understanding of best practices in the non-profit arena.
5. Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, or related field
- 4+ years of sales or business development experience
- Proficient in sponsorship solicitation
- Ability to work independently
- Available to travel, work weekends and evenings.
- Valid driver’s license and transportation availability.
6. Working conditions
