Position Overview:
The mission of this position is to weld the fabrication components required to build specialized equipment for our customers ranging from the automotive, consumer goods, and food packaging industries. We are looking for a talented welder to weld high – quality metal components from our engineered designs. As a qualified welder, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting engineering prints, welding metal components or structures, and performing quality checks on finished products. You will also be assisting in the set-up fabricating machines (plasma table / laser table / welders) and design custom templates. To ensure success as a welder, you should have advanced knowledge of industrial metalwork, a good eye for detail, and excellent mathematical skills. Ultimately, a top-class welder expertly constructs high-quality products to exact specifications. This position requires the ability to work unsupervised to a deadline and manage projects from start to finish. They assist the Fabrication Coordinator in scheduling, assigning work, and ensuring maximum efficiency in the welding process.  They also ensure adherence to safety rules and practices.


Top 5 Responsibilities:

  1. Read prints and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
  2. Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
  3. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
  4. Maintain weld Material Levels
  5. Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety / 5S.


Additional Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering prints
  • Measuring and marking out cutting
  • Setting up metalworking equipment including drill presses, flame cutters(plasma/laser), brakes, and shears
  • Checking designs specifications before commencing with cutting work
  • Welding and constructing metal components.
  • Grinding and finishing completed products
  • Performing quality checks on completed products.
  • Participate in launch meetings, team meetings, and installation meetings throughout the project.
  • Continuous training and support for fabrication department welders.
  • Assist the Fabrication Coordinator in setting up build plans and timelines.
  • Check stock and order shop material for inventory.
  • Emphasize good habits such as cleanliness, organization, and keeping a clear list of items to stay busy. 

 

Minimum Qualifications / Experience:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Previous work experience as a welder.
  • AWS certification or advanced welding experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints.
  • Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including saws, shears, drill presses and flame cutters(plasma/laser)
  • Advanced mathematical skills.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate large metal objects.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently.
  • Effective time management skills
  • Understands manufacturing principles.
  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position may require constant standing and frequent walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, and twisting.
  • Working in machine building also requires constant cervical flexion, the chin to chest movement. Maximum lifting weight can reach about 50lbs, maximum carrying weight is about 30lbs, and the maximum pushing and pulling weights can reach 100-150lbs.
  • Frequent forward and lateral reach may be required, as well as frequent grasping, handling, pinching. Working in this position requires a very strong ability to work alone and self-supervise as well as the ability to supervise others.
  • It also requires the ability to handle attention to detail, tight deadlines, responsibility and accountability and the ability to multitask.
