JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director, Technical Development, the Team Lead, Technical Writing is responsible for creating, managing, and refining technical documentation across various projects and platforms. This role involves both hands-on writing and editing tasks, as well as leadership responsibilities to ensure the production of high-quality, clear, and consistent user-friendly documentation. The Lead Technical Writer will collaborate closely with software developers, project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to create technical documentation, including but limited to user manuals, technical specifications, API documentation, and other technical content.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of technical writers.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-ones to monitor progress, address concerns, and discuss performance objectives and career development.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of technical documentation projects, including prioritizing the projects.
  • Ensure documentation projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Coordinate with other departments and teams for project alignment.
  • Participate in writing, editing, and the implementation of documentation solutions.
  • Stay abreast of new trends in technical writing and incorporate them into documentation practices.
  • Ensure adherence to documentation standards and best practices.
  • Oversee review procedures to ensure documentation quality.
  • Identify and address any issues or defects in the documentation process.
  • Act as a point of contact for project stakeholders.
  • Clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports.
  • Encourage and lead efforts for continuous improvement in documentation processes.
  • Promote innovation and efficient practices within the team.
  • Manage the escalation of unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams or external vendors.
  • Ensure the team provides exceptional customer service and support.
  • Ensure proper documentation of IT processes and resolutions.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of customer self-service material and tools.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Provide support after hours and weekends as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Several years of experience in technical writing with a proven track record in a leadership role.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in technical documentation.
  • At least five years of experience in creating and managing technical documentation for software applications.
  • Experience with various documentation tools and platforms.
  • Experience in full System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with knowledge of Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and version control systems.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills, with a high degree of communication and responsiveness.
  • Must be able to multitask, work independently, and act as a hands-on team member.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to change.
  • Strong analytical skills to resolve problems, identify, and document solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.

Education and or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

Language Skills: Speak, Read, Write and Understand English.

Mathematical Skills: Good
