SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President of Programming, the Director of Program Operations (DPO) will coach and supervise a team of direct services support staff to provide high quality programming to CIS students and their families. This position will be expected to ensure program consistency through utilizing best practices, staff training, accountability measures, and policy implementation. The DPO will collaborate with the CIS staff and community partners to develop, manage and evaluate integrated student support programs.


The successful candidate will have excellent communication, people and collaboration skills, business acumen, exemplary work ethic, be driven, organized, self-motivated, a skilled facilitator and problem solver. Ability to cross cultural boundaries to build and maintain strong working relationships. This position works with minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and interactive skills.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as a strategic partner on the leadership team to ensure achievement of performance expectations, delivery against key business metrics and to drive organizational goals processes and procedures
  • Responsible for programmatic quality, fidelity, outcomes and design for all differentiated and specialized services
  • Serves as an ambassador articulating the mission, vision and philosophy of Communities In Schools
  • Supports efforts in defining program goals and objectives
  • Ensures that performance measures and standards for program(s) are in place and met
  • Ensures policies and procedures are adhered to in order to maintain the legal, ethical and professional integrity of CIS
  • Provides consultation and assistance with the management of program contracts and grants
  • Responsible for direct supervision and coaching of direct service staff in a consistent and fair manner utilizing CIS policies and procedures while maintaining and developing good employee relations
  • Builds a strong program team by recruiting, hiring, training, developing and retaining working with Human Resources to resolve employee relations issues quickly and effectively
  • Works with the Research, Evaluation and Impact (REI) team to refine and implement system for documenting CIS activities/program services delivered to all CIS students and their families
  • Ensures assigned program area utilizes CISDM to document services, contacts with students, families and community collateral; ensure direct service staff are trained to understand and adhere to reporting expectations
  • Identifies training needs and resources to meet programming needs
  • Enhances professional development and program development for assigned differentiated service area
  • Develops and maintains effective communications and working relationships with Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools(CMS) staff communicating the CIS mission, activities and needs
  • Remains abreast of agency commitments to reposition appropriate staff to CIS school sites
  • Supervises overall program budget by monitoring and approving expenditures accordingly


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Education, Business or other related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • Two or more years of professional experience as a supervisor, coach, and/or mentor in program management and design preferably in the nonprofit and/or human service sector; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of non-profit sector/human service organization and program operations; knowledge of project management, including planning, scheduling, monitoring, and problem solving; knowledge of the methods and procedures of budget development and control
  • Considerable knowledge of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ policies and procedures relevant to the program areas
  • Adept at marketing, budgeting, financial and operational management
  • Computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Goggle Suite, Zoom and other virtual meeting platforms
  • Demonstrated leadership skills: coaching, participatory and transformational leadership, grow model, management and conflict resolution

  • Ability to be flexible in a work environment often filled with ambiguous situations
  • Some local travel may be required


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to handle, feel and keyboard; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, or bend. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT
