Summary:

The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Finance team and will work closely with the Accounting Manager and Controller in several areas of Finance. This role will be an essential part of the Finance team and we are seeking a candidate that is analytical and passionate about making a difference within the organization. This position requires a flexible professional who can support change, identify and resolve issues quickly, and create trusted partnerships across the business. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess advanced problem-solving skills, and have strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare month-end journal entries and reconciliations for accounts including but not limited to cash, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accounts payable
  • Maintain fixed asset subledger including recording new assets/transfers/disposals, asset tagging, and periodic physical inventories
  • Monitor Accounts Payable aging and follow-up on significantly aged balances
  • Assist in gathering information for the annual external audit
  • Assist as needed with implementation of a new general ledger system
  • Assist in documenting the department’s policies and procedures
  • SOX support and compliance
  • Perform ad-hoc reports and analyses upon request

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel
  • Prior experience in the lending industry is highly desirable
