Job DescriptionJob DescriptionMission:
To develop and lead the Special Needs Ministry of Rocky Mountain Christian Church (Rocky). To build a fully integrated program that provides a safe and loving environment for children with special needs in Rocky Kids (ages 3-12) and Students (ages 13-18).

Ministry Responsibilities:
  • Develop buddies to come alongside children with special needs to offer a one-on-one nurturing environment that will provide support, based upon their unique strengths, and to help them in their journey in understanding who Jesus is and how that can change their lives forever.
  • Oversee SHINE monthly ministry, recruiting, training and developing volunteers and preparing activities for participants.
  • Work closely with Kids Pastors/Directors and Student Pastors to integrate special needs children into Rocky Kids and Student ministries.
  • Prepare weekly curriculum for Special Needs Sunday morning classes (students through adults)
  • Recruit, mentor and train partners to serve with the special needs participants and their families
  • Setup and maintain a central special needs room with appropriate tools, toys and furniture.
  • Serve on the leadership team of Special Needs Prom held yearly at Rocky.
  • Act as liaison between Rocky and Young Lifes Capernaum club
  • Other related duties as assigned
  • Weekend Essential Staff
Required Competencies/Experience:
  • Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion to share Gods love.
  • Committed to the theological stance of Rocky Church and an active Rocky partner.
  • Possess the ability to recruit, develop, and lead partners that serve within the Special Needs Ministry.
  • Be a college graduate with a minimum of 4 years of job experience in working with special needs children.
  • Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to cast vision and build teams.
Key Relationships:
  • Spiritual: Must be a mature Christian and be a member of Rocky
  • Reports to: Campus Pastor
  • Interacts with: Rocky kids staff team members, Student Pastors, families of Rocky, guests of monthly Shine and their families/caregivers
  • Supervises: Team Members (Special Needs Volunteers, buddies)
Work Schedule: Flexible work schedule working up to 19 weekly hours.

Compensation and Benefits: This is a part-time position with no benefits

Department of Labor Classification/FSLA: Non-Exempt, Hourly
