Chief's is a six-story bar, restaurant, and live music venue designed to celebrate Eric Church's ever-expanding musical legacy. Located in historic downtown Nashville, Chief's will feature a ticketed music venue, inspirational interiors, and a thoughtful focus on unique live performances, offering fans an unparalleled entertainment experience in Music City. Chief's will house a studio for live broadcasting, inclusive of Church's Outsiders Radio SiriusXM channel, with the capability of hosting broadcasts by various media partners. Chief's will also feature a restaurant partnership with James Beard Award Winning Pitmaster Rodney Scott. Rodney Scott's Whole Hog BBQ will overlook downtown with its 'Hell of a Q' rooftop offering. Situated at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Broadway, Chief's is set to open at 200 Broadway.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for providing support to the General Manager in day-to-day operations and act as de facto leader on decisions in the General Manager's absence. The Assistant General Manager will focus on driving both top line and bottom-line margins and facilitate smooth operations within programming, food & beverage, marketing, private events, retail, production and any additional brand opportunities. This person will drive management focus on labor margins and overall COGS, and build human capital through strategic hiring, mentoring, and ensuring a healthy employee life cycle. The Assistant General Manager will provide support on inter-departmental communication and help creatively launch new initiatives to drive top line revenue and work across all departments to ensure seamless operational execution of all programming, events and retail campaigns.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

Hiring and Training:

  • Collaborate across locations to maintain up to date training documents & compliance
  • Monitor new hire training for each service position; this includes a review of each service position detail, outline of duties and complete training schedule with sign offs before staff joins the team
  • Ensure new hire paperwork is complete and coordinate on-boarding with General Manager
  • Maintain a healthy working relationship between FOH and BOH and address any hiccups with operational departments
  • Collaborate with private and public event departments to review the upcoming months in the calendar and discuss programming ideas for any holes in the schedule outside the scope of programming
  • Maintain a monthly staff meeting to ensure communication between departments is clear - communicate, policies, changes, new menu items, new hires, etc.
  • Coordinate product and service training of all F&B and Retail departments
  • Address staffing, payroll, inventory, and equipment usage areas of concern, including maintenance in relation to service
  • Implement new selling incentives for service staff
  • Work with production team to address FOH & Private Event production needs
  • Manage pre-service meeting agenda: review shift notes, food training, beverage and service notes, new product launches and changes to policies & procedures
  • Perform any and all other related functions as required related to Service operations


Public & Private Events:

  • Assign a point person for each event for our client/events point person, and to make sure staff is set up for execution success
  • Arrange and verify beforehand proper staffing, supplies, dietary restrictions, decorations, etc.; ensure the team presents a space that is immaculate, and details are perfect
  • Monitor operations contact with the event lead, as well as the Client throughout the duration of the event to ensure client satisfaction AND proper execution of timeline
  • Manage event extensions with event team oversight
  • Produce BEO's for One-off or Off-Site Events/Large Reservations
  • Attend weekly Events/Programming meeting to bridge bookings/plannings with night-of operations

Service:

  • Ensure service management stays current in training materials
  • Develop staff sales incentives and facilitate staff performance reviews
  • Practice a consistent survey of the space to ensure the staff, artists, and guests have everything they need to have the best experience while in our venue
  • Meet weekly with the GM and Rodney Scott team to discuss guest feedback or server questions

Financial:

  • Review payroll punches weekly to make sure no one is over or underpaid due to erroneous clock-outs and present time adjustment forms for any edited punches
  • Produce a monthly Product Mix email for to send to the General Manager to review item performance by menu, inclusive of F&B and retail
  • Produce a weekly comp and void overview report to discussed with General Manager
  • Monitor purchasing departments' inventories and margins
  • Meet all labor goals and projections

  • Skilled in food and beverage costs control practices and procedures
  • Ability and skilled at creating food at a high-quality level
  • Ability to manage and train F&B leaders on labor management and cost control procedures
  • Demonstrate ability to lead a team and develop future leaders
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent time and organizational management skills for multiplate projects at once.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Minimum of 5 years operational experience as Assistant General Manager or equivalent
  • Experience working in a multi-faceted venue inclusive of F&B and Live Music
  • Lead on Training and Development, Management of the employee life cycle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as organizational skills.
  • Proven exemplary skills in driving sales and profitability
  • Must have experience working cross departmental ex: Events, Marketing, etc.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.
