BookOps is the shared technical services collaboration between the Brooklyn Public Library and the New York Public Library. BookOps coordinates the selection, acquisition, cataloging, processing and distribution of library materials for the BookOps member libraries. Acquisitions is responsible for order verification, invoicing and payment for the Research and Circulating collections of the New York Public Library and the Brooklyn Public Library.

This position supports activities associated with the acquisition and management of electronic resources and resolves issues related to the acquisition, payment, renewal, and access of electronic resources for all BookOps member libraries. Under the direction of the Supervising Librarian, this position completes tasks including, but not limited to processing e-resources invoices, tracking access data, troubleshooting, and collating usage statistics.

Responsibilities
  • Carries out and ensures accurate data entry for ordering and payment transactions in the BookOps member libraries’ acquisitions systems.
  • Tracks access and holdings information in e-resources discovery platforms.
  • Performs regular data entry for collating e-resources usage statistics reports. 
  • Maintains created Sierra item records for uploaded Frontlist titles.
  • Troubleshoots issues related to the access of e-resources. 
  • Communicates with other BookOps units, BookOps member libraries staff, and vendors via email to resolve issues. 
  •  Answers ServiceNow tickets submitted by staff regarding access to the Library’s e-resources.
  • Maintains electronic and paper files as needed.

Required Education, Experience & SkillsRequired Education & Certifications
  • High school graduation or high school equivalency required. Some college preferred. 
Required Experience
  • 2 years of relevant library work experience       
  • Experience working with a variety of library service providers, troubleshooting and resolving issues in a high-pressure environment   
Required Skills
  • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Office and Google suite (docs, sheets, slides, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others and to work independently with minimum supervision in an organization undergoing change. 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Integrated Library Systems (Sierra).
  • Knowledge of e-Resources and Databases; ability to navigate and troubleshoot eResources preferred.
