About the Deputy Director of Operations Role: 


BRIC seeks an experienced Deputy Director of Operations who will oversee the overall functions of BRIC’s day-to-day facilities operations and venue management. Responsibilities include building and facilities management and oversight of BRIC’s cafe and hospitality program.  The Deputy Director of Operations will liaise with other departments including but not limited to Production, Technology, and Programming departments. 


 

What You’ll Do in the Role:


The Deputy Director of Operations will manage the day to day activities of the department with a focus on the management of BRIC House, BRIC’s main office and performance space. This is a highly collaborative role that will work with the Director of Operations to support the coordination of multiple teams as well as direct oversight of reports including two Full Time Custodians, the Senior Public Safety Officer, and related part time staff. The Deputy Director of Operations will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Director of Operations: 


 

Venue Management:


  • Oversee all aspects of day to day plant operations at BRIC’s locations including BRIC House, 75 Rockwell, and 20 Jay Street to ensure the physical infrastructure of BRIC is able to support the organization's staff, artists, and guests. 
  • Oversee repair and maintenance requests throughout the building and ensure that requests are responded to in a timely manner.
  • With support of external building management firm, ensure maintenance of building supply inventory as well as oversight of vendor relationships and payments. 
  • Work with the Director of Operations to maintain clear wayfinding, signage, and other informational displays for guests and audiences. 
  • Facilitate building coordination and policies with partner organizations (UrbanGlass).
  • Work with the Director of Operations to create and implement building policies with an eye toward equity and access. 
  • Manage relationship with external building management firm, SquareIndigo. Act as main point of contact for BRIC in relation to SquareIndigo, including working with a team to ensure work orders and building projects are managed on time and within budget.
  • Manage execution capital construction projects at BRIC House and reporting as needed.


 

Staff Management:


  • Oversee management of BRIC’s security team, including directly supervising the Senior Public Safety Officer and overseeing the scheduling and training of the security team and ensuring compliance with organizational safety protocols for both BRIC House operations and event staffing. 
  • Manage BRIC’s custodial team, including supervising 2 full-time and 2 part-time custodians. Oversee the scheduling and training of the team to ensure compliance with organizational protocols and standards for both BRIC House Operations and events.

    • 5-7 years experience working in operations/operations management or building facilities at an arts or theater organization

    • Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity.

  • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $65K - $80K. 
  • Status and location: This is a full-time, exempt role based in our Brooklyn office.
