Position Overview: Under the supervision of the Director of Programs, the Family Preservation Supervisor will work with Project Connect/Project Family staff and programs to assist substance affected families that are involved in the child welfare system with the ultimate goal of reunification and/or maintain placement in the home.

  • Provide effective individual supervision to assigned Project Connect staff on a weekly basis and as needed and during team meetings.
  • Maintain and monitor referrals within the program and assign caseloads to staff as appropriate.
  • Ensure culturally competent services to families including clinical assessment and intervention, case management, crisis intervention, information and referral to families referred to the program.
  • Oversee daily operations of program needs, including, but not limited to, contracts, federal data collection, and collaboration with partnering agencies.
  • Ensure that all required documentation is accurately completed within established program time frames and quality assurance guidelines.
  • Ensure advocacy for families to other service systems including; RIDOC, RI DCYF, legal, judicial, medical, educational, human services, etc.
  • Contribute to the overall success and quality of the program by working constructively and collaboratively with other staff members to address programmatic and agency-wide issues and needs.
  • Provide supervisory backup for staff as needed after regular working hours.
  • Constructively utilize individual and peer supervision to evaluate and improve effectiveness as a supervisor and in providing services to clients
  • Maintain current information regarding agency programs, along with information related to child welfare polices.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development through trainings both external and internal.
  • Participate, as required, with administrative staff in the evaluation of agency programs and service delivery.
  • Assist in publicizing agency programs and educating others about the agency and its services.
  • Provide leadership in ensuring that all individuals are treated respectfully and that diversity in backgrounds and life experience is supported and valued throughout the agency.
  • Contribute to the overall success and quality of the program by working collaboratively with other staff members to address programmatic and agency-wide issues and needs.
  • Meet productivity standards for the program.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Mental Health or closely related field.
  • Licensure required in Rhode Island at the highest possible level, based on degree and experience.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of the child welfare system, working with at risk children and their families.
  • Must have experience with at risk families, substance use disorders, mental health, individual and/or family counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours per program needs required.
  • Proven time management skills and relationship building skills.
  • Experience with computer programs including databases, Word and email systems preferred.
  • Proven ability to interact with members of the community representing diverse backgrounds and interests is required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, automobile, and auto liability insurance.
  • The successful candidate will be required to meet our pre-employment background screening requirements.
  • Under general supervision from the Director of Programs.
