Job Summary:


The Director of Accounting is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing and managing all accounting functions within the organization. This includes financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. The Director of Accounting plays a crucial role in providing financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:


Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant accounting standards.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with other departments to develop and manage the annual budget.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against the budget, providing regular reports and recommendations for adjustments.

Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost control or revenue enhancement.
  • Provide financial insights to support strategic planning and decision-making

Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and resolve audit findings.

Team Management:

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support for professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment within the accounting team.

Internal Controls:

  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Develop and document accounting policies and procedures.

Cash Management:

  • Manage the organization's cash flow, optimizing the allocation of funds for operational needs and investments.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Monitor and manage the organization's insurance policies.

Financial Systems and Technology:

  • Evaluate and implement financial software and systems to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Communicate financial information and insights to senior management, board of directors, and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial support for strategic initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's degree preferred).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is highly desirable.
  • Several years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial or director-level role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
