About the Role

Reporting to the Tate Americas CFO, and based in Jessup, Maryland, the Head of Plant Controlling will drive performance improvements across the Tate US manufacturing plants and coordinate the approach to operational performance reporting, standard costing, variance analysis, and capital investment reporting and, working closely with the Tate US Operations team and the IT, HR and Finance teams.

The Head of Plant Controlling is responsible for a team of Plant Controllers whose responsibility is to provide comprehensive financial leadership to the manufacturing plants. The Plant Controllers function as the leading accounting professional in each plant and are responsible for the accurate reporting of plant performance and the protection of the company’s assets. The Plant Controllers also serve as business partners to the Plant Managers and Plant Leadership Teams focusing on providing financial and operational improvements, including identifying and driving cost reductions.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports for plant and corporate management.
  • Analyze and interpret plant operational results, evaluating variances, and assessing the effects on plants’ operations.
  • Ensure accurate reporting by ensuring a rigorous control environment at each of the manufacturing plants.
  • Work cross-functionally with central accounting to lead control and efficiency initiatives resulting in a better control environment that is easier to monitor.
  • Manage a thorough month end close process, including owning all plant accounting reporting.
  • Identify and drive cost and working capital reductions.
  • Coordinate with Operations to prepare business cases to support capital investments, including financial justification.
  • Serve as the business partner to the Operations team focusing on providing financial and operational leadership and improvements.
  • Manage the plant controllers and provide leadership, ongoing development, mentoring, and strong learning experiences.

  • Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Kingspan Group Compliance Policy.
  • Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations, and market demands.
  • Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of the Compliance Management System.
  • Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, or any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.

What You’ll Bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or CPA/CMA certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar), advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with financial reporting software.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of cost accounting, and financial analysis specific to the manufacturing sector.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to analyze complex financial data.
