$17.00 - $19.00/hour starting pay rate (depending on experience). This is a full time position with 1st shift hours. Weekend availability required.This position is eligible for full benefits (medical, dental & vision), DailyPay, 401K, paid vacation, free downtown parking, free employee meals, hotel and restaurant discounts and more.


Responsibility Summary

Keep all equipment in good repair with a minimum of downtime by providing day-to-day maintenance of the hotel under the direction of Engineering Management. Continually work towards and support the improvement of the engineering service to both guests and associates.

Essential Duties

  • Ability to learn new tasks
  • Understand electrical, plumbing and refrigeration
  • Ability to read and understand test equipment, measuring devices and safety manuals
  • Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdown
  • Carry out specific oral and written instructions
  • Ability to carry out hotels standards, policies and procedures with assigned staff
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
  • Ability to be a clear thinker in pressure situations and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to focus attention on details, speed and accuracy

Responsibilities – Other duties that may be assigned:

  • Train and instruct other members of the staff through sharing of knowledge and skills
  • Operate as an independent mechanic by analyzing problems, identifying courses of action and implementing solutions
  • Keep accurate completion and task records in the project files
  • Set an example of continuous self-development
  • Guest Rooms:
    1. Plunging toilets
    2. Unclogging drains
    3. Repairing all types of hardware
    4. Plumbing
    5. Electrical equipment
    6. Heat pumps
  • Public Areas:
    1. Plunging toilets
    2. Unclogging drains
    3. Repairing all types of hardware
    4. Plumbing
    5. Electrical equipment
  • Mechanical:
    1. Working knowledge of, but not limited to:
      • Kitchen Equipment
      • HVAC fan units
      • Automated building technology
  • Tools:
    1. Clean, lubricate, protect and otherwise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel.
    2. See that all tools used are returned to the shop and secured in a proper storage area.
    3. Protect and maintain your assigned tool’s and lockers at the discretion of the Engineering Management.
  • Fire Alarm/Life Safety System:
    1. Monitor systems as necessary
    2. Be informed of the system operation
    3. Handle emergencies involving the systems
    4. Have working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems.
  • Emergencies:
    1. Be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect our guests and associates
    2. Preserve the building and its systems during the emergency
    3. Act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status
    4. To inform Engineering Management of any such emergencies
  • Records:
    1. To read, log, track and interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units
    2. To maintain a thorough log of each day’s activities and problems that occur and to ensure this information is passed on to other shifts
  • Department Duties:
    1. To clean all engineering areas as directed by Engineering Management
    2. To work in a neat and efficient manner, keeping work areas clean and well organized
    3. To serve as otherwise directed or needed to help maintain the effective and efficient operation of the hotel
  • General:
    1. Complete all work assigned in a safe and professional manner
    2. Maintain communications with the Facilities Manager to ensure that all needed materials, tools and supplies are available or on order
    3. Follow up on any items that may be on back order
    4. Keep the Facilities Manager updated on assignments
    5. Provide training and technical advice to other engineers as needed or requested
  • Maintain a professional image at all times
  • Maintains the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Provide a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager/Supervisor
