Job Summary:
The Operations Accountant plays a critical role in the financial management and operational efficiency of the organization. They are responsible for overseeing various financial activities related to operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and optimization of resources. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data by reconciling accounts and transactions. Generate financial reports for management review.
- Cost Analysis and Control: Analyze operational costs and identify areas for cost reduction or efficiency improvement. Monitor expenses against budgets and forecasts. Develop and implement cost control measures to optimize resources.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Work closely with department heads to understand operational needs and develop accurate budget projections. Track actual performance against budget and forecast, providing variance analysis and explanations.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and valuation. Reconcile inventory records with physical counts and investigate discrepancies. Collaborate with procurement and production teams to ensure efficient inventory management practices.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within financial operations. Streamline accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Implement best practices and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies. Assist in the coordination of internal and external audits. Address audit findings and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments, including finance, operations, procurement, and sales, to gather information and support decision-making. Provide financial insights and analysis to support operational initiatives and strategic planning.
- Ad hoc Analysis and Projects: Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management. Participate in special projects related to operations, finance, or business development.
