Essential Functions:

  • Lead the Quality Coding Specialists
    • Guide and support team members in their daily tasks/projects
    • Train and monitor new Quality Coding Specialists
    • Monitor established Quality Coding Specialists, providing instruction and education
    • Foster collaboration to address challenges encountered by the team
  • Conducts internal reviews for coding accuracy and provides training based on audit findings.
    • Evaluation and Management (E/M)
    • HCPC
    • ICD-10
  • Assists in the development, completion, and maintenance of a comprehensive, medical coding audit program.
  • Prepare reports on findings for management.
  • Effectively communicates with others throughout the organization to facilitate cooperation in reaching the required standards.
  • Report inaccurate or incomplete data to appropriate parties.
  • Assists in the review and updating of policies and procedures related to coding and documentation guidelines.
  • Identifies and makes recommendations for participation in external programs.
  • Trains and monitors new Quality Coding Specialists.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.

Education:

  • Accredited Professional Coder Certification, or similar, required
  • Audit certification required

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years coding within medical practice required
  • Audit experience preferred

Knowledge:

  • Proficient in coding guidelines, concepts, and principles.
  • Proficient in legal, regulatory, and policy compliance issues related to medical coding and documentation.
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Policies and procedures.

Skills:

  • Exceptional skill in effectively communicating complex material to the target audience.
  • Adept in medical record auditing and abstraction of the necessary information.
  • Experienced in the analysis of data, policies, and requirements.
  • Evaluating, identifying opportunities, and effectively addressing identified opportunities.

Abilities:

  • Work independently or as part of a team.
  • Adept in effectively communicating both verbally and in writing with a diverse audience.
  • Aptitude to maintain a professional work environment.
  • Proclivity to plan and prioritize projects and meet demanding deadlines.

Environmental Working Conditions:

  • General office environment.
  • Some travel within the community and potentially to other Markets.

Physical/Mental Demands:
