John Marshall Bank is seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the Loan Administration department as a Commercial Loan Documentation & Closing Specialist III.


In this role you will:

  • Prepare and process commercial loan documentation for multiple types of commercial loans using the LaserPro loan documentation system. These may include processing extensions, renewals and modifications of existing loans along with processing documentation for new loans.
  • Manage an assigned loan pipeline for loan documentation and closing requests to ensure closing dates and other critical tracking information is accurately reflected throughout the day.
  • Anticipate and identify potential issues that might derail closings or inconvenience customers early in the assignment.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in identifying and applying system, product and regulatory coding impacting loan booking and management reporting.
  • Communicate and follow-up with lending teams to ensure all internal and regulatory due diligence requirements are fulfilled and documented for the loan file.
  • Conduct a pre-closing review to ensure documentation is complete and conforms to all terms and conditions of the loan approval, meets regulatory requirements, ensures collateral perfection and satisfies all closing requirements prior to funding.
  • Serve as point of contact during the documentation and loan closing stages; coordinating directly with other parties including underwriters, portfolio managers, lending teams, settlement companies and attorneys as needed to facilitate successful loan settlements.
  • Review settlement statements to ensure the Bank's funding amount and fees are accurately stated. Generate, upload and distribute a final set of loan documents to the requestor within the loan closing deadlines.
  • Review wiring instructions and prepare outgoing wire forms to fund the loan or process any fees.
  • Coordinate with the Loan Operations department to initiate funding and process collected fees post-closing.
  • Reconcile and clear general ledger for commercial loan fees post-closing.
  • Review final loan packages post-closing to ensure documents are accurate with all signatures and notary requirements completed.
  • Review attorney prepared documents prior to funding for accuracy and compliance with terms and conditions outlined in JMB's loan approval.
  • Assist in success and progression of the team by providing support, training and guidance to less experienced processors to include LaserPro technique, internal procedures and/or system coding and navigation at manager request. Display leadership within the group.
  • Make constructive recommendations for changes/enhancements to the loan closing process and general internal operating procedures.
  • Attend off-site meetings when required.
  • May be required to adjust your work schedule based on end-of-month/quarter loan volume.
Requirements:

Required:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of preparatory experience
  • Knowledge and experience with organizational documents and UCC Financing Statements
  • Proficiency in LaserPro or similar loan documentation application.
  • Working knowledge of Letters of Credit.
  • Demonstrated comprehension of attorney prepared loan documentation

Preferred:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8 years of preparatory experience
  • Three to five years' experience with commercial loan documentation processes, LaserPro system experience
  • Strong communication skills and a superior ability to work effectively and cooperatively within a team environment
  • Positive attitude with a strong customer service focus
  • Self-starter with strong administrative and organizational skills and an eagerness to learn
  • Excellent attention to detail and deadlines
