Requirements:

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The R&D Associate is responsible for assisting the project team with the completion of R&D client studies. This role supports the R&D team by conducting client calls, gathering and processing project and financial information, drafting reports, and completing tax credit calculations. The R&D Associate also engages in discussions with clients to understand their business operations and potential qualified activities.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete the initial department training program within six months of starting the position.
  • Work with the R&D team to perform R&D tax credit consulting services, including leading client interviews and discussions, conducting tax technical research, and developing business and industry expertise.
  • Manage projects including project statuses, deadlines, and assignments in CTI’s proprietary software.
  • Research and stay up to date on current R&D tax law.
  • Leverage the Internal Revenues Code, Treasury regulations, and case law to correctly calculate clients’ tax benefits and deliver a defensible study.
  • Draft and review client deliverables and technical summaries reflecting finalized tax credits and incentives.
  • Travel to client sites, conduct technical client interviews and engage in discussions to identify qualified activities.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including heightened working hours during regular tax seasons.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to prioritize, plan, and organize activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service, including patience, a friendly attitude, empathy towards internal/external stakeholders, and with the appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and reasoning abilities.
  • Willingness to change to meet organizational needs.
  • Ability to process and maintain confidentiality while processing sensitive data.
  • Ability to recognize when an incident needs to be escalated.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business preferred, but not required.
