As a Camera Operator, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality video footage of events, interviews, and other newsworthy occurrences around New York City. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a passion for visual storytelling.
Responsibilities:
- Operate video cameras to record news events, interviews, and other footage for BIG APPLE NEWS.
- Collaborate with journalists, directors, and other team members to ensure that video content aligns with the project's vision and standards.
- Set up and break down camera equipment before and after shoots.
- Ensure proper lighting, framing, and audio quality during filming.
- Edit and prepare footage for publication as needed.
- Maintain and care for camera equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in video production.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a camera operator, with a strong portfolio of video work.
- Proficiency in operating video cameras, lighting equipment, and audio gear.
- Strong technical skills and understanding of video production processes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to capture high-quality footage.
- Familiarity with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Physical ability to transport and set up camera equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
