Job DescriptionJob Description

The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for business development projects-both local expansions and new business prospects. The position manages the expansion or recruitment process including Request for Information responses, site and building selection assistance, financial incentive identification & application assistance, and workforce recruitment & training connections. The position is also responsible for maintaining a database which tracks the organizations' progress toward economic development goals.

Additional responsibilities include: maintaining a strong working relationship with state and local partners, some national travel, leading special initiatives and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manages and ensures consistency in responses to Request for Information (RFI), RFQs, RFPs on potential economic development projects.
  • Leverages internal and external experts and information to ensure a strong and on-time response to requests for information in order to best position the Greater Des Moines region.
  • Coordinates the details of report outs related to recruiting, retaining, and expanding businesses in Greater Des Moines' (DSM) 11-county region.
  • Coordinates and develops information as needed for prospect site visits/ community tours and presentations.
  • Maintains Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data.
  • Reviews and evaluates large amounts of information and ensures accuracy and professional presentation of information.
  • Leverages data and technology to respond to Economic Development team and prospect needs.
  • Develops and maintains a network of business contacts to identify expansion opportunities and serves as a liaison between business executives and state & local officials to address business development issues.
  • Assists companies in identifying and applying for state, local, and federal economic development programs.
  • Lead RFI Site Ready program and other real estate development initiatives.
  • Provides assistance with Partnership's Business, Retention and Expansion (BRE) Program, including scheduling and leading company visits.
  • Leads Practitioners Council and other economic development initiatives as directed by SVP of Economic Development.
  • Corresponds with key stakeholders, clients, and prospects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Education and Experience:  

    • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or higher, plus related professional experience.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
    • Strong Adobe Acrobat skills.
    • Custom map preparation.
    • Salesforce or other CRM experience required.
