Job Summary:

The Packaging Manager is a dynamic and experienced operative who would oversee our packaging operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong supervisory background, excellent planning and coaching skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of sanitation, safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and innovation.


Key Responsibilities:


Supervisory Role:

1. Lead and manage the packaging team, ensuring efficient and effective performance.

2. Provide clear direction, set performance goals, and monitor progress.

3. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.

Sanitation:

1. Ensure all packaging areas meet or exceed sanitation standards.

2. Implement and enforce sanitation procedures and schedules.

3. Train staff on proper sanitation practices.

Planning:

1. Develop and execute packaging plans to meet production schedules and customer demands.

2. Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery.

3. Manage resources efficiently to maximize productivity and minimize waste.

Coaching:

1. Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

2. Identify training needs and provide opportunities for professional growth.

3. Encourage teamwork and collaboration within the packaging department.

Hiring:

1. Participate in the recruitment and selection of packaging staff.

2. Ensure new hires are properly onboarded and trained. (work with HR on Onboarding and leads on training).

3. Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Safety:

1. Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.

2. Conduct regular safety audits and address any issues promptly.

3. Train staff on safety practices and emergency procedures. (ensure Safety Rep updates you on current safety considerations from safety committee meetings)

Quality:

1. Ensure all packaged products meet quality standards and customer specifications.

2. Implement quality control measures and conduct regular inspections.

3. Address any quality issues promptly and effectively.

Delivery:

1. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of packaged products.

2. Monitor delivery schedules and resolve any delays or issues.

3. Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to optimize delivery processes.

Productivity:

1. Monitor and analyze packaging processes to identify areas for improvement.

2. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.

3. Set and achieve productivity targets.

Innovation:

1. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in packaging technology.

2. Identify and implement innovative packaging solutions to improve product quality and efficiency.

3. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications:

1. Formal credentials in Packaging, Engineering, or equivalent years on experience 4 to 5years of active management in a CPG manufacturing setting.

2. Proven experience in a supervisory role within a packaging or manufacturing environment.

3. Strong knowledge of packaging processes, materials, and equipment.

4. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

5. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

6. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

7. Proficiency in using packaging software and technology.
