Job DescriptionJob Description

Purpose of Position: To perform maintenance and test on T56/501 customer engines.

Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation)

  • Installation and removal of the engine from the test stand
  • Operates engine test cell to complete final testing of engine
  • Troubleshoots issues using required manuals
  • Assists the Test Stand Supervisor in the testing procedure of the engine
  • Train to operate the test cell independently
  • Maintains test stand equipment and tooling in a serviceable working condition
  • Ensures periodic checks and calibrations are made on special tools and test equipment and current records are maintained
  • Proper handling of all engines and parts while in the Test Facility
  • Maintains the premises of the Test Facility in a clean and orderly manner
  • Completes paperwork and stamps off relative operations.
  • Uses forklift to move engine and modules
  • Performs FOD (Foreign Object Debris) inspection daily
  • Works to production schedule as directed by the Production Coordinator
  • Travels as required
  • Confers with the manager to recommend changes such as methods and procedures to increase the efficiency of the department and promote improvement
  • Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner
  • Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy
  • Works overtime as needed
  • Observes and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g. safety glasses, ear plugs, face shields, etc.)
  • Other duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: (these are required to enable the job holder to perform the essential functions of the job)

  • Must be willing to work overtime and/or second shift as required to meet production schedules. (2nd shift hours include $2 premium).
  • Must be able to use large specialty tools such as torque wrenches, impact wrenches, hydraulic press and bearing pullers
  • Must be able to obtain needed information and data from FAR’s, bulletins, and maintenance manuals to perform assigned maintenance functions
  • Must be familiar with the engine components inspection techniques and tools used to complete the inspection process
  • Must be knowledgeable in the use of precision measuring instruments including calipers micrometers, hard gauges, dial bore gauges, and other surface plate equipment
  • Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among co-workers and supervisors
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision and to take initiative
  • Must be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations
  • Must be able to apply common sense
  • Must be able to effectively read, write and communicate in English
  • Must be proficient in company specific software and Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, rates and interpret graphs
  • Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPE
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally
  • Must be able to hear running machinery
  • Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively
  • Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination
  • Must regularly be able to reach overhead
  • Must regularly be able to squat, bend, twist and stand
  • Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally
  • Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions

Experience and Education Requirements:

High School or GED required. Minimum of 2 years mechanical experience including troubleshooting aircraft, automotive, and/or industrial engines and equipment. Previous experience operating an engine test cell is preferred. A/P license, 54H60 prop experience preferred but not required. Jaeger and Ishihara eye exams are required upon hire. Must pass a DOT FAA pre-employment drug screen and possibly a physical and comply with all applicable regulations Position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations and as such, subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA's regulations.


Work Conditions:

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise is generally loud. Some outside work in hot, cold and/or inclement weather.
