Job Summary:

The QC Lab level 1 QC Techs are under the direction of the level 2 QC Techs, QC Manager, and occasionally the coating supervisors, particularly on the off shifts. Level 1 QC Techs must be capable of performing all the tasks required of them in this position from start to finish, including but not limited to the physical testing for all of the products. They must possess basic math and basic computer skills. Level 1 QC Techs must be able keep their area clean and organized, follow direction both in written and oral form, and work well alone and with a team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Safe operation of all testing equipment

* Must be able to stand for the duration of shift aside from scheduled breaks

* Able to work in an industrial environment

* Follow schedule and read job travelers for necessary testing of products

* Actively involved in the set-ups and uses for all QC equipment

* In the first 6 months the Level 1 QC Tech must learn to fully operate and clean all equipment necessary to complete all tasks required

* Additionally in the first 6 months, must be able to perform and have a basic understanding of product testing using a viscometer, pH meter, micrometer, moisture analyzer, scale,HR-1000, AR-2000, Instron, shear, and spectrophotometer

* Develop a basic understanding of the coating process to effectively troubleshoot production and quality problems

* Possess basic computer skills

* Some lifting is required

* Responsible for housekeeping in the area

* Must be able to differentiate between all colors to effectively perform color testing

* Must be able to effectively listen and communicate in a loud and busy environment

* Must always maintain a safe working environment and adhere to safety policies

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or GED and manufacturing background preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities:

* Good oral communication skills ability to follow instructions both written and oral

* Works well in a fast-paced team environment with the ability to work well alone

* Self-motivated and interested in learning multiple functions required for the job

* Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability

* Displays ability and willingness to follow rules and regulations

* Must be detail oriented, thorough, and able to focus and follow tasks through from beginning to end

* Must be able to handle hazardous waste in a safe and proper manner in accordance with General Formulation, local, state, and federal guidelines
