Job Summary:

The role of CAD Designer is responsible for interpreting field notes to create work prints using AutoCAD for placement of fiber optic cable lines as well as preparing the work prints for the Construction and Permitting.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
  • Use industry software to create detailed designs for complex projects.
  • Digitize notes and gathered data to create CAD drawings.
  • Make decisions taking into consideration value engineering and the impact on construction, installation, and future maintenance.
  • Assist in the design of an aerial and or underground path from point A to point B.
  • Identify the necessary requirements to successfully attach fiber/copper cables to poles as well as place cables in the underground environments. Initiate internal work order requests for other departments necessary to complete entire project.
  • Always meet or exceed internal and external quality standards, and on-time delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
General
  • Strong time management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to be flexible, take direction with ease, including changes to schedule and workflow priorities.
  • Ability to maintain professional tact in a fast-paced work environment with internal personnel and clients.
  • Superior customer service and dedication to providing a positive experience inside and outside the organization.
  • GRIT (guts, reliability, innovation and teamwork).
  • Ability to follow direction in maintaining all Field Safety standards.
Technical
  • Knowledge and experience with Vetro, or a similar GIS platform preferred.
  • Knowledge & experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS or other relevant drafting system.
  • Knowledge & experience with project management processes, tools, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects with reproducible results.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and databases.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics is a plus.
  • Telecom or utilities industry experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Make-Ready Construction.
  • Experience in estimating existing utility locations.
