Why CALM?
It’s an amazing time to join us as CALM was just awarded a substantial $694,000 grant from the Department of Health Care Services to implement and scale Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) across Santa Barbara County This exciting opportunity affords CALM the resources to establish an 18-month learning collaborative for up to 18 therapists with dedicated time for training, consultation, and implementation of CPP and the ability to hire and train a new Clinical Supervisor in this modality and CALM’s other evidence-based practices.
What is Child Parent Psychotherapy? CPP is an intervention model for children aged 0-5 who have experienced at least one traumatic event (e.g. maltreatment, the sudden or traumatic death of someone close, a serious accident, sexual abuse, exposure to domestic violence) and/or are experiencing mental health, attachment, and/or behavioral problems, including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). CALM's Santa Maria based Bilingual Therapist provides psychotherapeutic treatment, rehabilitation, and care coordination on-site or in the field as needed for children up to age 21 and their families. The therapist utilizes a trauma informed approach and practice to promote the social-emotional and mental wellbeing of children. The Therapist supports the client and their family in meeting their mental health goals. Therapy is focused on symptom reduction to improve functional impairments and heal mental health issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder, problems in the parent-child relationship, or other social-emotional challenges with the ultimate goal of restoring children and families to a healthy level of functioning.
Major Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate core conditions of the therapeutic relationship including?empathy, genuineness, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard.
- Complete clinical assessment and diagnosis with clients to assess their strengths and needs from a clinical perspective.
- Develop case conceptualization that is informed by biological, psychological, social, cultural factors and protective factors as a framework for the therapeutic process.
- Develop a treatment plan with measurable and observable goals in collaboration with clients.
- Provide psychoeducation and parenting support to bolster protective factors and mitigate the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
- Provide developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive therapeutic interventions.
- Implement evidence-based modalities to fidelity.
- Administer periodic assessments to monitor, guide, and communicate treatment progression with clients.
- Participate in trainings and work towards certification in appropriate modalities.
- Provide consistent client care and address issues of engagement to ensure continuity of services.
- Maintain current knowledge in topics related to the position (e.g., child development, trauma-informed care, secondary traumatic stress, ACEs, etc.).
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services as needed.
- Seek consultation and guidance from supervisor to address complex client issues.
- Maintain clinical productivity standards.
- Participate in evaluation efforts and commit to continuous quality improvement by incorporating feedback and outcome data into the provision of services.
- Participate in regular administrative and clinical supervision, and agency-wide/program meetings.
- Complete all documentation in a timely manner and according to agency policy.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and serve as a liaison between families, health care providers, and community-based organizations when applicable.
- Maintain active clinical license/registration with California licensing board (BBS or BOP).
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- Master’s or Doctorate degree required
- Must be either registered or licensed with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Associate Social Worker (ASW), Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) -OR- eligible to be registered with the CA Board of Psychology as a Psychological Associate or Registered Psychologist
- 2+ years clinical experience working with children and families preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required (Bilingual differential pay provided)

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Must have a valid California driver’s license, clean DMV record and criminal record clearance from the DOJ

Compensation:
