The Senior Designer is responsible for leading the design of innovative and performance-driven womens and mens activewear & athleisure products. This role requires a highly creative and experienced designer with a strong background in activewear, an understanding of technical fabrics, and the ability to translate trends and brand vision into commercially successful products. The Senior Designer will collaborate with the Sr Design Director and other cross-functional partners to bring collections to life and ensure they meet the brand’s standards and consumer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Design:

  • Responsible for designing innovative and functional activewear & athleisure products. Categories include: Mens & Womens, Bras, Tanks, Leggings, Joggers, Jackets, Fleece, Tees.
  • Present black & white sketches for seasonal collections, ensuring they align with the seasonal road map, the brand’s vision, market trends and consumer preferences.
  • Build and maintain Visual Line Plans (VLPs) for both new and existing products.
  • Create and maintain tech packs including detailed technical sketches and specifications for each design, ensuring accurate communication to the vendors and product development team.
  • Assist Sr Design Director approval process of: Fabric/Trims, Lab Dips, Print and Graphic Strike Offs.
  • Ensure calendar is adhered to and all deadlines are met.

Technical Expertise:

  • Collaborate with design leadership and product development to source and select technical fabrics and materials that enhance performance and comfort.
  • Ensure designs are optimized for price targets, performance, comfort, and durability, utilizing knowledge of garment construction and technical specifications.
  • Oversee fittings and make adjustments to ensure the perfect fit and functionality of all activewear products.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with design leadership, product development, merchandising, marketing, and production teams to ensure cohesive product launches and successful market integration.
  • Present design concepts and collections to senior management and key stakeholders, incorporating feedback into final designs.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior designers and other team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Identify and nurture talent within the design team, providing opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, set objectives, and provide constructive feedback.

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Gather and analyze consumer feedback and market data to inform design decisions and improve product offerings.
  • Conduct research on market trends, consumer preferences, and competitive products to inform design direction and ensure the brand stays ahead of the market.
  • Monitor competitor activities and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Following direction from Sr Design Director, color prints and create art matrices for prints for all Wantable brands
  • Create Print Repeats when necessary

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in fashion design, with a strong focus on both Womens and Mens Activewear.
  • Proven track record of successful activewear designs that combine style and performance.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD.
  • Strong understanding of technical fabrics, garment construction, and performance-driven design.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong eye for aesthetics and functionality.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require occasional travel to fabric suppliers, manufacturers, and industry events.
  • The role is a hybrid position with a minimum of 2 in-office days/week and may involve work in various environments depending on design and production activities.
